This was discussed earlier in the year and I have been reading some buzz on Marino wanting to join the Dolphins. Problem is that according to Dave Hyde, Ross has never approached Marino. Shocking if you ask me.

Dan brings instant credibility, swagger, leadership and football intelligence to the front office. Players would flock to him as they do in Denver with Elway. Dan doesn't need to be making personnel decisions but can sit as the Czar or VP of Ops or whatever you want to designate him. How Ross has not reached out to him is absolutely mystifying.

Thoughts?

Did he walk away from the job a few years ago? Not sure this is the right thing for Dan.....stay on TV and collect your million plus contract, working 6 mos out of the yr

It wasn't the right time for him and he acknowledges that. But now he is interested and should be brought in. Although there is no way of knowing, had he been a part of the organization when Peyton was a free agent, the Dolphins would have gotten more than a 2 hour meeting in a hotel room. That is the impact he would bring.

There's a few issues for sure, one being that Marino found out quickly after the senior bowl that he basically had no power and that Wayne was letting Wanny and Spielman run the show.

At the same time though, Marino doesn't really have experience with this kind of role. Elway was an owner of an AFL franchise and also worked as a coach at his son's high school for awhile. He also did other things with business. I dunno if Dan has or not aside from being co-owner of a short lived Nascar team back in 98

Ross is a NY guy. A corporate guy. He takes all his advice from SUITS.

Carl Peterson. Matt Higgins. All SUITS. That is what Ross respects... Corporate stooges.

He has no time for football guys. It's why I think he latched on to Ireland for so long, because Irish is a SUIT with some football knowledge.

As long as Ross owns this team, we are screwed as a fanbase. We are watching a team run by a committee of corporate stooges. The problem with that, is that these suit types have no passion for the product or service, only for the bottom line.

Ross would fall backward into **** if he put a Marino or JT into a major role with the team.

I haven't read any reports of dan saying he wanted to join the dolphins. When did he say this?

I always figured dan would wind up with the steelers in some sort of role. I think he is a steeler fan at heart.

Hell if I was owner I would give him Irelands job. He couldn't do any worse. Plus Dan could always build the team that he never had and finally get himself a superbowl ring. At least the o line might get better since Danny hardly ever got sacked. Ok I know it sounded better than what is reality!

Mentioned an Elway role on Showtime. He is interested.

I don't think Dan is qualified.

That said, Jeff Ireland sucks at his job and Matt Higgins, are you kidding me? Mangini?

I'll take my chances with Dan.

Honestly here folks,

What has Marino done in the past 10 years to prove he can work in the organization?

He doesn't evaluate talent. He isn't an advisor or anything from a business standpoint. He's not involved in coaching.

He's just a name.

Now one guy I see around Ross all the time is Nat Moore. I am curious to see how he's aligning himself with the organization.
