Two 1st's & a 3rd? Still unsure if its worth it...
“I like the way the kid plays,” Marino said Monday on his weekly show with former Miami Dolphins teammate Joe Rose on WQAM radio.
”I’ve watched him a couple times,” Marino continued. “I’ve met him on our [CBS] set. He seems like a really good kid. He understands the whole process and what he’s doing. You can tell he’s a very athletic player, and he can throw it.”
However …
“He’s not as tall as I thought,” Marino said, a tinge of disappointment in his voice. “I thought he was taller. He’s not as tall.”
For now, drafting RG3 will seemingly require the Dolphins to move up from the eighth or ninth slot to assume the Rams’ No. 2 overall selection — at least at this point.
“From what I understand, I’ve heard it’s at least two No. 1’s, then probably a [third-round pick] a year later or something,” Marino said. “There’s only a couple guys you’re looking at saying, ‘Oh, my God, we have to have him! He’s going to be our franchise player for a while, a guy we can rely on to have a chance to get to the playoffs every year.’ ”
How would Marino feel about paying the bounty that would require?
“There’s nothing wrong with taking a chance on that if you believe in him — completely believe in him,” Marino said. “After that, who are you talking about?”
Uh, nobody until Round 2?
“There’s no doubt,” Marino said. “That’s it. Sometimes maybe it’s worth the price, you know?”
