I hope this is true. :) Dan is almost as annoying as his buddy Keith Olbermann, and one of the biggest wind bags at ESPN.

Credit to Teddy Greenstein of the Chicago Tribune for a great lede today:
ESPN could be on the verge of losing one of its signature personalities.

Unfortunately, it's not Chris Berman.
Greenstein reports that a source said there is a "90 percent chance" that Dan Patrick will announce his farewell during his Thursday radio show. Although Patrick won't host The Price is Right, he has been rumored to have a number of other options, ranging from sports to news to entertainment.......

damn why are you hating on all the ESPN originals? personally i dont like berman alot either, but i still respect him and realize his impact for ESPN, olbermann, patrick, kenny mayne, rich eisen, chris berman. those guys set the foundations for all ESPN anchors

lots of stories about him back stage. He's isn't well liked. Treates people like garbage.

I love Rich Eisen and Mayne. I think they're great.

Talked extensively with Dan at a Celeb Golf Tourney dinner. Man! This guy was so full of himself! He was approachable though. But he sure thought he was the sh-t! I believe he thinks he is Hugh Hefner. Just put him in a room by himself and he will be happy listening to himself 24/7.

Not to mention that somebody who is supposed to be the head honcho of sports anchors knows nothing about.......SPORTS!

His "hosting" of the NBA Finals 2 years ago was laughable. he really seemed as if he had not seen a NBA game in his life.

good ridance.

Wow, I love Dan Patrick. I find him to be not only smart, but funny as well. Outside of Howard Stern, I don't know if there is a better hour of radio than when Keith and Dan get together.

I too have met Dan Patrick, and he was a great guy to meet. He talked with me a bit, shared some old sportscenter stories, and cracked some jokes. I have no problem with the guy and hope he doesn't leave ESPN.

On another note, I have also met Kenny Mayne, and he is one of the most funny people you will ever meet. Non-stop laughter throughout our whole conversation.

Did he announce? I missed it.

Dan Patrick Delays Announcement
He wasn't on today's radio show. He had a fill-in guest, leading Sports by Brooks to wonder if the delay in the announcement could mean that ESPN executives are considering caving on increased salary and benefit demands.

Brooks also reports that if Patrick gets his own syndicated show -- as has been widely reported -- it won't necessarily be well received. According to Brooks, when Patrick's previous sidekick, Rob Dibble, left the show, many of the radio stations that carried Patrick's show thought he was incapable of handling a show all by himself, and that's why co-host Keith Olbermann was brought on.

It was so much better with Dibble IMO. He was awesome. I won't miss Dan at all. He did get good interviews, but he's too full of himself for my liking.
Cowherd's full of himself too, but he's also very self deprecating and funny as hell.
