Anybody have good insight as to what actually happened between phin management and Lord Marino? Probably a really stupid question, but any chance Saban could get him to come out of retirement to work with the Feeley and Ferotte?

I think Dan is going the Boomer Esiason route in the studio...

i think he could come back to work for the dolphins but not for a while.

Dans gonna be the cbs reported guy for years to come...sorry guys hes not gonna be in dolphins management any time soon

He could come in during the offseason and work with the QBs a bit though.

why ? he was never noted as a teacher and why would Saban introduce a distraction into his practice routine ?

Because he would be a better coach then Garrett.

no way, make your argument sir ! a man who has never even coached his kids quarterbacks and he is now better than the choice of Saban and Linehan? cmon Byroan, use your head not your homer.

Sometimes, the uniquely great make lousy coaches. What Marino had can not be taught. He could probably help the young guys learn to read defenses. But, I think he'd get frustrated when his guys couldn't play like him. Sort of like what happened to Ted Williams and Magic Johnson.

I had no idea that Ted Williams coached Magic Johnson....

Seriously though, one of Marino's outstanding attributes was the ability to read and recognize defenses....I think he could help. JMHO

Dan was not known for being a genius at deciphering defenses. He had an enormous gift finding a "spot".

Saban and Linehan chose Garrett because Marino isn't out looking for a coaching position. I can't believe you think someone like Jason Garrett would be a better QB coach than the best QB of all time.

The reason he was a GREAT QB was because he could read the defense.

That and the fact he could get the ball where it needed to go before the d had any idea it was going there:rolleyes:

Back to my original question, what ever happened between DM and the front orifice?
