SAN FRANCISCO — Dana Stubblefield, a former defensive lineman in the N.F.L., pleaded guilty in federal court here Friday to charges that he made false statements to a federal agent about his use of performance-enhancing drugs.
Stubblefield, a three-time Pro Bowl selection while with the San Francisco 49ers, was the first football player charged with a crime in the five-year investigation of the Bay Area Laboratory Co-Operative. He is the second athlete — after the sprinter Marion Jones — to plead guilty to lying to federal agents about using banned substances.
