Daniel Jeremiah Podcast/Discussing Coaching Changes (Feldman and Breer)

Some major points from my listening

* Brian Kelly might be the most apt to go pro.
* Feldman talks up Jim Mora
* Breer seems to think that Ross will let go of Joe and swing for the fences. Sounds like Ross is willing to give the personnel power. Hickey could stay if they end up hiring a low profile guy.
* Could the Raiders' issue being paying Harbaugh what he wants?
* Rex will be looked at for HC jobs…forget getting him as a DC.
* Said nice things about Dan Quinn.
* Hue Jackson will get looks.
* Jim Schwartz will get some looks.

Lots of other things, but just some notes I remembered.

whoever comes in i really hope they dont put all their eggs in the tannehill basket. bring in legit competition for him, no way he should just be handed the starting job next year.

And who would you suggest they bring in? Seriously? The guy has been great this year and people expect him to carry this team with absolutely no Oline since Brandon Albert went down. I would rate RT17 top 10-15 at this moment with growth to top 5-10. I couldn't ask for better considering how difficult it is to acquire a true Elite QB. Thats not homerism. Go look around the league and stack them against him.

Who do you suggest they bring in?

Dan Quinn is an interesting candidate seeing how he is an ex-Miami coach and is a client of Tannebaum. Excellent candidate but I want coaching experience this time around and he does not fit the bill.

The experience factor is big.

Brian Kelly would be a very interesting candidate.

there are very few that I would sign ,and to name ,would be Cowher <,Gruden ,Hargbaugh ,mike shanahan ,and coughlin somebody that has been there and done that ,somebody that knows what it takes to get back to that special place , THE SUPERBOWEL !

Thanks for the information. Whatever happens, I truly hope that the Dolphins brain trust is already doing their homework. At the end of the season (within 24 hours) there must be a decisive decision. Either declare that Philbin gets another year or fire him quickly and get our next coach finalized quickly. We can't wait days before the draft and expect to have a productive draft.

The Dolphins have been stuck in the superbowel for over a decade...

Some of you guys are like vultures flying in circles overhead. The prospect of losing the remaining games is giving you boners (the viagra effect of speculating about new coaches).
Let's play the season out and I'm in the minority because I support our coach and I'm rooting for Dolphin wins. It's a radical new concept - it's called loyalty. Go Joe!

Loyalty to failure?

I will never root for loss despite draft position or easier schedule for the next season. I absolutely hope we close out the season with two solid wins and finish 9-7. However I'm a realist and don't see this team improving under this coaching regime. I have very mixed feelings about a coaching change because of the constant turnover that keeps teams average. But I have very little faith in Joe Philbin and Coyle/Lazor. Coyle has looked out-coached way too often the past three years and Lazor has failed to adjust once teams figured out our offensive system.

Lazor has failed to adjust once teams figured out our offensive system.

:err: I don't agree with this and maybe it's just the way it happens to be worded, but it's not like Lazor created new offensive concepts that threw defensive coordinators into a whirl in weeks 4-12, give or take. IMO, DC's were simply able to identify Lazors' tendencies in his playcalling. There should also be some leniency with Bill considering 1) it's his first year as an OC, 2) He was able to tune up Tannehill (footwork, reads, etc) and 3) I believe he was forced, in a sense, to develop some bad habits due to our lack of talent in our receiving corps and injuries along the offensive line. Certainly he needs to find more balance with his run/pass ratio but I think he's done a pretty damn good job in his first year which is shown in an overall increase in just about every major offensive category from last year.

I love the Dolphins more than the next guy. But if you're telling me we keep Philbin with wins in the next two games I'd rather lose them both. This team isn't going to be anything until we move on from Philbin, that's facts.
