I wonder why he never tried to follow his father's footstpes and make a career in football like the Simms and Manning's.

If you know Dano like I know Dano, you'd know why. The youngest son, Joey, plays football and basketball. He's on JV basketball, I don't know about football, but I think he is a QB.

Never mind...on second look, Joey plays basketball, middle son Mike plays QB.

Because he's his own person and probably doesn't have his father's amazing talent.

He's Dan Marino's son, not his clone. There's was no guarantee that he would be a good football player, much less a great one.

The pressure to follow an icon like his father would be immense. Unlike Manning (sorry team his whole career), and Simms, an "average to above average" QB (yes, he has his ring, but with the thanks to OJ and LT), to be the prodigy of perhaps the best quarterback EVER, would drive many insane. If he was to follow, and did not equal any one of his father's multitude of successes, he would be labeled a failure.

Look at some recent offsprings of stars:
Walter Payton, son is a mediocre kick returner
Anthony Munoz, projected 1st rounder QUIT when he knew his skills were far below those of his dad
Kellen Winslow, son's been hurt his whole career, not to mention a head case
Bob Griese, son's bounced around three or four teams his career, nowhere near his dad's success
I know there are more, but can't think of them right now...

Exactly. I was wondering if he even had a choice to be a football star. Chances are he didn't. That's like asking why anyone else didn't just decide to be a pro football QB instead of a police officer, teacher, garbage man, Doctor, etc. So Dano found he liked Drama, probably because he is good at it and is fortunate enough to be in a financial situation that allows him to follow his dream.

Exactly, everyone is going by the assumption that because he was sired by Dan Marino that all of Marino's talent got passed on to him, as if Dan Marino's football skill was encoded in his DNA and passed along like eye color.

I'm sure Dan's son, like everyone else, chose to pursue a career path more along the line of what talents he possesed, not the talent his father posessed.

Heaven forbid a kid be his own person and not follow a carrear choice of armchair qbs sitting at a computer monitor

I guess I said something the MODs didnt like... sorry...

I just went to high school with the kid. To be nice... lets just say he wasnt a cool kid...

Dan, Jr., just based on his speech at the Hall of Fame induction ceremony, has more talent and is more elloquent than the majority of the folks on this board. He may not play QB but the kid has a very bright future ahead of him.

So what that he wasn't a cool dude. He did his thing and I bet ya that he was damn proud of it too. It would be nice to see him play football, but that's alright. I'm sure he got alot of **** for not playing football.
