Miami Dolphins running back Daniel Thomas was informed of his release Saturday ahead of the NFL's deadline for roster cuts, Andrew Abramson of The Palm Beach Post reports.

A second-round pick in 2011, Thomas failed to make a significant impact on the team's offense. He carried the ball 109 times for 406 yards and four touchdowns a season ago in a timeshare with Lamar Miller.

The move leaves Miller and Knowshon Moreno atop the Dolphins' depth chart at running back, with Damien Williams serving as depth.

I like Thomas, but I expected the move. It's the right move at this time. I hope he finds a spot on another team.

They've already moved on to Sturgis, Taylor and Jordan. The bashers and trashers are like a virus that just goes from one host to another and you never really get rid of.
 
He'll be god for a team that has a good o-line and can block. When he has room to run he can break the big one, but no room and anyone laid a finger on him he fell down.
I thought perhaps he was trade worthy, but there is some good talent on the waiver wire
 
OK, so I'm not interested in bashing a guy who played hard for Miami, nor am I interested in celebrating a guy losing his job. It was the right move, thanks for your time in Miami Mr. Thomas. Good luck elsewhere.
