Daniel Thomas

The holes were terrible but he also wasn't running with any patience (ala his number-sake, Karim Abdul-Jabbar). The guy needs to slow down and then burst through the hole. He was so juiced up to be out there playing he was like a blind bull elk crashing through the trees in search of something to ****. Only with fewer broken tackles.

What hole?

Seriously, almost all of his carries (and those of the other backs) had him being swarmed with defenders before he had even finished taking the handoff.

yall are crazy... guy didnt look bad but didnt look great either.. had a nice play with his catch and he looked pretty good pass protecting.. I'm just happy we found clyde gates :)

Based on what? The one time we put him in space he showed good speed compared to what was expected. Don't blame the runs for nowhere on him.

Exactly. Doesn't it seem like there are some people who want so badly for this team/coaching staff to fail that they manufacture criticism of every aspect of the team?
They are devoid of any objective analysis because it doesn't fit their narrative.

Daniel Thomas is the least of our concerns.

This.

Daniel Thomas did look like a man lost out there. But these are his first carries as an NFL back. The game has to "slow down" for him. And it will with time. Vision comes, he'll hit some holes. I'm not even blinking at Daniel Thomas yet. We need something produtive from the QB position.

He isn't the issue right now. If the oline cant block and if teams are gonna dare our poor QB's to throw no RB will look good! (ie Chris Johnson last year in Tenn)

LOL at people whining about the O line with a ROOKIE playing his first NFL game and our best lineman not on the field.

I haven't seen the replay yet but after reading this thread let me get this straight. You mean after 3 seasons with an O Line expert at head coach, firing a good asst coach to hire another OL guru, 2 1st round draft picks, countless FAs and what a 100 something million dollars spent, one guy is out and the entire line still sucks. How can this happen?

Ed, the regime's defenders say this is devoid of objective analysis. And yet, you've summarized everything in a factual and logical way.

I like what his balance on the sideline, but I am worried about how straight up he runs. He needs to get lower and not expose himself to a pounding.

Technically we have 3 first round picks on our oline other then that carry on!

Yea right lets get our opinion on the game from useless threads started on Finheaven!

the homers will say relax its the 1st pre season game.. long out pounceys 1st game
though if you ask me this means trouble because eventually they should have made
a hole to run through but couldn't .. i think the longest run of the day was 4 yards
i thought QB was the biggest issue with this team now i know its our Offensive line
and im not sold on thomas either ..

I was going to say pretty much the same thing. With all this supposed O Line "expertise" it really should be the least of our problems.....that it is one of the major issues shows how inept and horrible this whole staff is.

That's what happens when you have someone who is no more than a Line Coach faking being a Head Coach, in over his head and instead of possibly doing one thing he might acceptable at (O line), he's failing miserably at the top.

Hell, we'd be better off at this point with Nolan as HC and Sparano demoted to O Line Coach (OC would still be way too much for him IMO)
