A person would have to be pretty naive not to get exactly what was meant by the white comment. Now, many are saying it's not a big deal and no harm was meant, and maybe that's true. But let me propose a hypothetical:
If someone had asked if, say, McNabb or Vick had a chance to win a Super Bowl, and someone answered "He's black, take that for ....", what do you think the response would be? Not good, and rightfully so, even though based on past history the percentages aren't good. So it's bogus to act all surprised when this type of low-grade comment gets a little crap flung back at the perp. :shakeno:

You argument may seem valid at face value. However, the black athletes weren't given too many valid opportunities to play qb in the league until recently. They have proven to be worthy of the task. As for us white folks we've had generations at the the receiver position. I not ashamed to say for the most part black receivers are generally better than their white counterparts. How is it racists when the argument is founded in truth.

Everyone should read the book "Taboo: Why Black Athletes Dominate Sports and Why We Are Afraid to Talk About It"

There are other books out there to refute this science I'm sure, but the arguments here are strong and it's an interesting read nonetheless.

Something to add - If a white kid is told he's slow & can't jump (like I was) in grammar school, it must have some negative psychological effects. This could discourage many white kids from trying to play certain positions, just as blacks were once told they couldn't play the QB position because it was too "cerebral".

Statistically...As far as current players go, there is no #1 receiver on a team that is white. Bennett is scheduled to be for this season though and I predict he'll be a top 15 in fantasy this year. Crebet was a #2 but was always in motion/in the slot so nobody could jam him at the line (he's small so it's easy to take him out of the play if you get a hand on him). McCaffree was a #2 as well, but is huge (6'5"). Jurevicious, also huge. Dwight is a burner - remember his Falcons' Superbowl performance? Who said whiteboys can't run! hahaha

As for jumping (sorry for the tangent here) - does anyone remember Tom Chambers dunk in the lane where his head was above the rim?!?!?

A very interesting (and taboo) topic raised!

 hey, its kinda useful information in this day in age of football.

no it is not, it is a racist remark--basically saying only a black man can play wide out. your wrong!!! there are wide outs who do well in the nfl, stokely, colbert to name a few. please dont make yourself look silly like that.

Ed Macafarrey (I'm not sure how it's spelled) but he was a pretty damn good receiver, made some pretty amazing catches too.

i dont want to start a battle here, but whats the big deal with everybody getting upset that someone said he was white? its not like he added any value judgment about it at all (ie - hes white, hes gonna suck). in fact he said the opposite of a value judgement, 'take it for what it worth' basically means 'gleam from it whatever your heart desires'. maybe people are taking it upon themselves to gleam uncool things - but you cant blame that poster for your prejudice.

i dont find anything wrong with just plain old saying somebody is white.
someone asked if hes good he said hes white take it for what its worth thats passing judgement to me

Why can't threads stay on topic? This is about Farmer. Someone noted he's white, who cares? It's amazing how people are offended over something little. It's not like he said "He's white, he'll be cut first". Get over it already.

that stat trend tells me a lot, he probably won't get any opportunities even if he makes the squad unless we have SERIOUS injury issues at WR.
