Darlington: Manning underwhelmed with Dolphins front office

all ross conveys is that he thinks he can throw money at any problem and that will fix it...All ross conveys is that he thinks I am an idiot by lying to me on a national presser about going to California to have ice-cream with a coach and telling him to continue coaching college ball...

Ross mad billions so he isnt a moron, but ever decision he has mad as the owner of this club makes me question how smart he really is...

You want me to think more of him, then do the right thing and push the anniversary of the 72 team...you want to make me think more of him, push shula's legacy...stop with the campy orange carpet Bull$#!t, and bring in people that know how to run a franchise...If you want to throw money at something, GO GET THE PEOPLE THAT RUN THE PATRIOTS, go get the people that run the steelers...Tell them you are going to get out of their way but make me a winning team, and i guarantee it happens...

While I agree that Ross seems a bit questionable with various decisions (as portrayed by the media), I do think that passing on Fisher and GM control, then opting for Philbin was arguably the smarter move.

While the Patriot organization might be a good place to pluck from, Greenbay isn't exactly chopped liver.

Deciding to set a hard mandate for a new QB signing, versus another position, shows some much needed leadership/direction.

With all that, I'm inclined to give Ross a shot with this new era he's forging post-tuna.

(All that orange carpet stuff, i'm impartial too- while i like football to be hardcore and gritty, I'm now accepting the fact that Miami teams have an identity of "showtime" in parallel to the aura of the LA Lakers venue, w/ celebs around the game etc. Plus ya throw in the Heats big 3, it's just star power and star gazing galore in Mia it seems.)

No i didnt want fisher, I didnt want the coach that only went to the playoffs 6 times in 16 years...I was high on cowher...

aside from that, I do believe in GMs doing their thing (obviously I would have given cowher what he wanted) and coaches doing their thing.

as far as taking front staff, I'm talking from the president of the organization to the waterboys. If you arent a coach I want you gone and replaced with people from an organization that has proven they know what they are doing.

Before you all get on Ross and Ireland's as**s, it takes leadership from Philbin and leadership from Ireland and Ross for the latter two to agree to not go and visit Manning, on the one shot they may have at convincing him to join. Whatever about the owner, if you're the GM you want to be on that trip.

But the vibe was very clear from Manning that he wanted to talk football and not contracts and I think you have to give credit to Ireland and Ross for recognising that and handing over control of the situation to their new head coach.

Speaks volumes for Philbin/Sherman and says a lot to me about Ireland's tact, which he hasn't exactly been known for round here up to now.

Dude, I wanted Cowher too. I spent way to much time making a photochop of him in Fin gear. ::sighs::

Oh well, I'm just glad we are moving in a different direction from the Parcell's style of ball.

Been saying it since the Sparano firing presser..........Ireland is a tool and needs to go. Ross is a powerful guy and all powerful guys like to have a yes man around.....Ireland is his "female dog"
