CBS Sportsline September 16th 2008 says:

The Raiders plan to use RB Darren McFadden out of the "Wildcat" formation he used in college, meaning he'd take direct snaps from the center. The Dolphins have found success using Ronnie Brown in a similar formation. "There's a whole plan for that," coach Tom Cable said. "There's about half a playbook for that. When he's not there to do it, obviously you can't have it in, you can't do those things. Once he's healthy you'll start to see what the plan was."

Why do the Raiders insist that just because McFadden played in a offense that used the Wildcat in Arkansas that it will be successful. Just because you know how it works doesn't mean that you have the personnel (players and/or coaches) to pull it off. I suppose this can be taken as a compliment to how well we run the Wildcat but still if it works in Oakland, even just once, it will become theirs just because of McFaddens roots to Arkansas. At least that is how I see it happening knowing ESPN and FOX Sports' track records.

Why wouldn't they try it? They've got to do something. Cable is an OLine coach, and, from most reports, a good one. I'll assume he knows more of what he's talking about than most of us do.

Why can't you understand that McFadden is athletic enough to make hte wildcat succesful. Ask our qb coach David Lee, he coached in Arkansas.

You are about a month late with this news because they have already run the "Wildcat" on several occasions this season. Oakland does have the personnel to run with McFadden, Michael Bush and Justin Fargas at running back.

Not with Cable they haven't There where questions when he was hired as head coach if they would use it again.

Raiders need more then the Wildcat to help them out. They have to be one of the worse teams in the NFL. The Raiders need Al Davis to die if they ever want to get back to being a winning team.

they used it before we ever did (I saw them running it week 2). they have the same OC don't they, so why wouldn't it still be used??

as for the personell to run it, it would appear to me that the key guy is the one taking the snap, and who has more experience at that than McFadden?

Dmac pioneered the Wildcat for this generation. I am amazed people are insulted that he would run it in the NFL. To be honest, he will probably throw for more TDs then Jamarcus..lol.

We got one long pass and 2 first downs out of the wildcat last week. Teams are starting to be able to defend that formation. The true advantage is in the other teams defensive preparation, where they have to devote time to that formation, and take time from our base sets.
