Dartmouth's Artie Lynch Learning the Ropes with the Dolphins

Yep, that one catch. I still have in download in my folder, I was so excited over that. It was a beautiful thing! But then where did he disappear to?

Nobody could score, and nobody could get open. Fasano was underrated because he blocked so well, and had a knack for the tough catches in the red zone. Look...if this kid contributes, that could be worth a game or two. He had five TD's coming out of college his last year, and I think that was more than Sims had when he came out. Realistically though, we're probably going to need him to develop. I'm just hoping for more than that because we need somebody to step up.

If I remember correctly Sims was several pounds heavier in college and was mainly a blocker in a run first offense. He lost weight for the combine and did show some catching abilities but in college he was basically another lineman.

By the way Odrick looks so big because that picture is tilted but he does have nice legs HB :chuckle:

My guess is Lynch has a step up on Sims and Egnew to back up Clay. Sims and Egnew seem to have limited upside.

Suks we've used relatively high draft picks on all these guys and to date Clay has been the only one to perform well.

I don't think Kyle Miller is really in any competition for a spot. So it comes down to Lynch, Sims, and Egnew. I'd be willing to bet that Sims is the one that gets let go or maybe moved to practice squad. I know everyone here wished Egnew would die in a grease fire, but he offers athleticism the others don't.

Yea Im tired of hearing about guys tools. Almost every guy drafted early has great physical tools.
I actually thought Lynch was one of our best picks in draft value wise. I like his potential

Not dynamic enough in the passing game to ever be viewed as a solid #1 tight end...limited athlete max effort overachiever...projects more as a #3 nfl tight end over the long term...

On this current roster though he's got plenty of opportunity...

An NFL number three tight end is still better than Egnew lol I think he has enough ability to be a number two type, he just has to put in the work

On this team outside of clay everything else is replaceable...nothing projects as difference maker down the road...of all teams if you are a tight end Miami is who u want to be drafted by...the competition at the position is well run of the mill...

If Miami ever decides a more dynamic pass catching in line tight end is a priority sims will be in trouble...but with what we have in house not a freaking chance...none of the competition projects as anything but run of the mill as pass receivers...cutting sims talk unless he comes to camp having eaten himself is funny stuff...

wit what we have we shouldn't keep more than two Te's plus Clay. Keeping three less guys of this ilk is a waste of a roster spot

I also think that Lynch will beat out Egnew no problem. I think the guy he is really trying to beat out is Sims. Clay obviously is our #1. I liked most of what I saw from Lynch's highlight reel. I would hope he will be able to improve things like his vertical in the weight room. Athleticism you can not teach, but he blocks very well. That will help alot in the zone read offense.

LOL I think I'm busted. The camera angle is a little tilted, yes, but JT still looks shorter. There were more players to the right, I cropped it. But the important players are still there. ;)

As far as Sims, he may not be what Lazor is looking for. I think they want 2 versatile TE's. Not saying he's trying to replicate the Eagles roster, but Sims doesn't look like either of their starting TE's.

He's an extra blocker on short yardage and goal line who occasionally slips out to grab a pass. We need one of those.

Sis we will see what Lazor can do with Sims. I hope he comes to camp with his game face on and gets after it. I would like to see him take the 2nd TE spot so we can get that set. I am interested to see if Sims can take a bigger role this season. If they didn't believe in Sims somewhat you would of thought they would have taken a TE sooner.

Spot On Cali, I hope Sims worked on his route running all season. He is an outstanding blocker and has fantastic hands.
