I was prepared for this question. My response: Running QBs are like professional wrestlers and porn stars. In other words, it's such a taxing profession on so many levels, and you end up taking such a pounding, there's only a five- or six-year shelf life before things turn sour.

I really took that article to heart as I have drafted Daunte in 2004 (great move), 2005 (horrible move) and because I am a glutten for punishment I drafted him in 2006 as well. The only reason he is starting for me this week is because we are playing Houton. After this week he'll probably be dropped. How sad this season has turned out to be.

The most chilling part is when he talks about the sudden drop in production of running QBs.

It makes sense though. Imagine a defense playing with 10 men on the field every play instead of 11. All running QBs are either playing with someone spying on them or a team in pure zone. It almost takes the blitz right out of the equation when you are scared they can just scramble out of it. That is essentially what Daunte has played with for his career. Add on top of that a Randy Moss Double team and you are looking at very easy reads.
