Three quarterbacks all capable based on preseason and a couple of real games(exception of cleo). It's only been five games and so far we have two quarterbacks with similar stats and similary pts on the board. Most of us watched Cleo in the preseason and the offense ran the very same way.
Mularkey's offense allows us to insert any capable quarterback and we'll get the same results, so far anyway. Now, if we were putting up alot of pts, that would be a VERY good thing. But since we're only putting up ten pts a game it's not. Based on preseason and a few games this season, is proof that Mularkey is not a capable o-coordinater. I am so sick and tired of coaches that are so in love with their philosophy that they will force it on a large group of people instead of adapting to the talent he has.
We have Culpepper, throws a great long ball but is reduced to dinks and dumps. I guantee that if we threw downfield alot more in games we would not have been sacked as much. Pep missed on the chances he had but that was very few. If we did it more, he would of had more confidence in doing so.
We have Chris Chambers, a great reciever who never gets the ball. We pay these guys alot of money for their talent. In reality though, we can insurt anyone into these positions and they will put up similar stats. Why pay Pep millions of dollars to do what Joey can do for alot less. Why pay chambers millions when we can throw in m. vick who will run routes hard, block, and not have any balls thrown to him. I'm starting to think that coaches fall in love with their team looking good on paper that they don't bring in the types of players they really need or will not change their philosophy based on the talent we have. Saban loves a 3-4 defense, we don't have the personel for that yet, so he runs the 4-3 and mixes in the 3-4. That's GREAT, because he knows his talent. Mularkey is clueless as what to do with what he has.
When Marino began to emerge, before then we were a running team. We found a stud qb so we threw the ball. We did not try to run because Shula ran the ball for yrs.
I guess the point i'm trying to make is that we have alot of wasted talent on offense and our OC has no idea what to do with it.
Lastly, if I see another fake throw to the left and then a throw to the right for a screen or quick slant i'm going to strangle myself. It's ******ed plays like that, help put us back in yards.
Amen
