Anybody on this message board who is still enthusiastically supporting Daunte really needs to qualify their support by saying "assuming he regains his 2004 pro bowl level of performance." Because quite frankly, Daunte stunk it up for the Vikings before he got hurt in 2005 and played poorly for the Dolphins (fumbles/sacks/interception) during games 1-4 of 2006. Daunte hasn't played well in 2 years, and he may never regain his pro bowl form - so wake up to reality!

If Daunte regains his 2004 pro bowl level of performance, then that will be great. All of us Dolphins fans want the best player possible at QB. But unless that happens, Joey is the QB of the present and possibly our QB of the future. Until Daunte shows he can regain his old form, he is nothing but a fumbling and stumbling tackling dummy (based on his 2006 performance). Don't get me wrong as I would love to see a pro-bowl Daunte again, but there is a good chance that will never happen. Thus, we should be grateful that Joey is playing well and appears to be getting better.

I think you're the first person to ever post this thought. I'm not sure though.

I realize this is not an original topic. However, I am amazed at all the blind support that Daunte still receives, when he has not done anything to help the Dolphins win since joining the team in 2006. In fact, his selfishly wanting to get in the line up (and I don't fault his desire to play) before he was fully recovered has actually hurt us this year. Yet, some fans still speak of him as if he just passed for 600 yards and 6 touchdowns last week. So far, it looks like we got the short end of the Daunte trade. Hopefully I am wrong!

Yeah I've been kind of surprised too at how willing some have been to have all of the eggs put in Daunte's basket. He's a big question mark IMO. If he plays well again though it could be huge for Miami so I think he deserves the chance to compete in camp next year.

I know huh? Man, another Daunte hater, what a shock.

You must have trouble with reading comprehension because I didn't see any Daunte hating in that post. It was a somewhat pessimistic view of DC's future but it was qualified by a hope for his return to his 2004 form.

Well he seems to think Daunte can't return to form and all I see him saying is how bad Daunte was after that '04 season.

That's a fact supporting his argument that Daunte is still a big question mark.

im a supporter of every qb on miamis roster. i want nothing but the best from all of em. if daunte gets back to where he was and joey continues to perform we are sitting with a perfect problem. this situation we are facing now and possibly a bigger situation in the future is the reason we signed harrington. next year i hope we have all three qbs that we have now. cpep, joey, and lemon all have hope in different forms.

LOL, this is not to get on u, but u a bring up a point. "Deserves a chance"? lol are people really thinking that Daunte doesn't have a shot to win the QB spot next year? NO, it wont be given to him . . . but u have to think that if he is healthy he is the favorite to win the QB spot. He just has more talent than Joey, and this isn't a knock on Joey . . . Joey actually may be the better QB for this team . . . we have to wait on that . . . but talent wise is this even a debate? Joey is a systems QB . . . he needs solid players around him to be successful . . . Daunte can turn a guy like Kelly Campbell or Nate Burleson . . . into sought after receivers.

It seems as if people want Daunte "not" to get healthy . . . and just let Joey QB for this year, next year and for now on . . . or something like that. Iono, I'm excited that we have a capable QB who came in and took over for our franchise QB, who if he never is able to be the QB he once was before injury . . . we have a little bit of ease knowing Joey is here . . . but why are we discrediting Daunte . . . especially more than ever after a game against possibly the worst D in the league with a QB that had something to prove against his old team and knows the tendencies of all those guys.

Dolphin fans are the funniest fans out there. We lost a few games . . then everybody needs to go, including Saban. Hagan is a rookie and drops a few passes and now I see posts saying "He just isn't gonna make it in this league" . . .I mean wtf . . ."Matt Roth is a bust", "Jason Allen is a bust" . . . I mean wtf man . . . Iono, I just hope people realize a healthy Daunte could help this team, and if he plays better than Joey . . he would deserve the job . . .Saban is not gonna put him in there if he isn't the better QB.

As usual, you're right in there mocking someone else's point of view, as if it's irrelevant. And to top it off, you label him a Daunte hater, which is both unneccessary and, in my estimation, unjustified. You're the runaway leading candidate for the "ignore" button, so I don't have to read any more of your blabbering.

please. enough with the daunte threads already. he's practically done for this season so why talk about it? its just gonna cause arguments between pepper's supporters and haters. if you read some of my other posts, you'll know how i feel about him, but lets just worry about the rest of the season and see if joey can keep things going for us. then let all the threads about daunte come in the offseason.

I don't think I've ever encountered a debate or conversation with you on this board. I don't recognize your name, that's for sure. As for blabbering, I'm not sure what you mean there. Go ahead and search my previous posts, and then tell me if all I do is blabber.

I have seen many of your posts, and my statement is self explanatory. No interest in a discussion about this, so please don't respond. Just maybe stop and think about it for a while.

I don't think just handing the job to Daunte is a given. First of all he hasn't produced since 04. Second of all he hasn't been developing chemistry w/receivers and running the offense like Joey has. Lastly, if by some miracle Miami does sneak into the playoffs I think it would be really hard to just send Joey to the bench. But even if that does happen due to what Daunte has shown he's capable of and also due to the price paid for him, he will and should get a shot to win his job back. If Joey keeps succeeding I don't think the job just automatically belongs to Daunte. Just my opinion.
