What says Moore isn't as good or better than Flynn? I think we can honestly say Moore didn't look half bad a lot of times, made some dumb mistakes, but it happens. Wait till next year...
We could have easily outbid Seattle if we realy wanted him. Why didn't we outbid Seattle?
While I think the story here is that Flynn picked Seattle over Miami -- it wasn't Miami rejecting him -- I think it's possible they didn't view him as a franchise guy yet still thought he was an upgrade to Matt Moore. There is, after all, a pretty wide gap between those two things. I mean, surely they don't see Alex Smith as a franchise QB, yet he visited. Same with David Garrard. They weren't offering Flynn big money and they didn't sweeten the deal when they had the chance.
The key are the reports that the Dolphins were willing to pay Alex Smith even more than were offering Matt Flynn. That, to me, is utterly crazy and a sign that Jeff Ireland just does not know what he's looking at when he watches quarterback play. And I don't mean that hyperbolically, I mean it literally. Even going back to Dallas, Ireland has never been able to plan and execute a long term plan at quarterback. Romo fell into his lap, as did Pennington. Every other quarterback he's had has been terrible, and he's missed out on guys like Matt Ryan along the way.

You're telling me you can make an educated guess on Flynn out of the total 60 snaps he's seen on the field? I doubt it.
If thats the case, why even bother bringing him in. I hate to put it into a black and white perspective but either you think hes your guy or you dont. Marginally better than Moore doesnt cut it. If you think hes a bit of an upgrade from Matt Moore than dont waste your time. Forget about him and find your franchise qb elsewhere. And thats what its all about. Finding your qb of the future. We knew Seattle was hot and heavy for him. He just came from there. We knew Flynn wanted to be a starter and get starter money. What could we possibly offer him if we thought he was a marginal upgrade from Flynn and why would be even waste a roster spot on a guy like than when we should be looking for the right guy in the draft or elsewhere.
Theres more to this than us just not thinking he was our guy and it could simply be he'd rather go to Seattle than us. I also agree with everything you said about the Smith situation also.
