Jason Taylor went through his share of regime changes with the Dolphins – six coaches, to be exact, from being drafted by Jimmy Johnson through retiring under Tony Sparano. Here’s the Dolphins legend's thoughts on Sirius Radio after this latest one with the Dolphins hiring of Adam Gase:

“Am I optimistic that Adam Gase and his staff will get this done? Sure,'' he said. "Am I optimistic that Ryan Tannehill can be developed and turn into a quarterback you can consistently win with? Sure. I don’t need a five-year window. You start winning now and make the playoffs, maybe in 2016. Maybe not make it to the Super Bowl. Maybe you win a playoff game you lose in the first round. The following year you’re in the playoffs again. So there’s your pattern of success. You’re building on something now …

“I think you’ll be able to quickly tell with the talent level on this team and with the additions they’ll make in the offseason, you’ll be able to tell very quickly what direction this coaching staff has this team going in. And I think it will be a very good and positive one.

“You saw some of the splash Dan Campbell was able to make over the course of a bye week. I think they practiced one day on that bye week and then practiced three days the following week in preparation for the first game under Dan Campbell, the interim coach. You’re going to have a whole off-season with Adam Gase, in Tannehill’s ear, a new staff.

Sure hope so. In show me mode.

i dont think this will be as fast a turnaround as he hopes, winning a playoff game in 2016 will be rather tough

I'm hoping the Tennesee game and Houston game become more consistent that once a decade.

Now I know the Houston game was a never been done before rarity in terms of point production, but being an offense that can score points should be a consistent theme.

The Jay Cutler lead Bears with little talent on offense scored 21 a game. I see no reason why Miami can't score 24+ a game.

when are these players going to take responsibility and hold themselves accountable? They showed up in two games with passion and intensity under Dan Campbell. They cost Campbell the job and unless the leadership improves in that locker room under Gase, he will eventually be gone too.

Did you watch the first round of the playoffs?? They all looked terrible minus Kansas city. We could've won any of those games...minus Kansas city I think.

I would disagree. I think Chicago has a ton of talent. Matt Forte, Jeremy Langford, Alshon Jeffries, and Martellus Bennett are all very good players.

I find this telling...

We're in year 5. His development should be over by now. We have what we have. Too bad he's currently the best in the clubhouse.

Most of them were injured for significant time this season.

& all were very hurt all year.

Bennett was out all year. Alshon missed a lot of game. As did Forte.

Uhhhh... No. Players can continue to develop throughout their careers and a qb especially.

Hopefully you're right and he can develop into a QB. We should give him another 5 years,a nd if he doesn't get it by then, only 5 more after that. But not more than that. All I've seen so far is he can throw a football. No accuracy, timing, pocket awareness, leadership. Not sure where his development has been. Some people say he developed because he doesn't overthrow by 10 yards now, only 3 so that's development. it's still not on target.

Dolphins consistently beat playoff teams for the past 3-4 years. Problem is they lose in division + crap teams. They have the potential to win now and just need to plug holes.

Go look at Cam Newton's years 4 and 5. A good offensive mind can do wonders for a young qb trying to get over the hump.
