Dave Hyde: Marshall trade so bad it must be to get Manning

OOORRRRRR we now have 8 picks in the first 3 rounds over the next 2 years. Sounds like plenty of firepower to go get Luck. Of course I have no idea and more than likely wrong I'm just speculating what my favorite outcome would be after this odd trade.

lol you're dreaming. We already completely blew our shot at Luck, nobody to blame but ourselves.

The fact that we couldn't get one 2nd rounder for Marshall when we gave up two to get him is pathetic. The only thing that can salvage this move is if we sign Peyton, possibly Wayne, Clark would be a huge bonus, and draft a stud a WR (or sign one of the many available). I am hoping that we finally have a good draft, it's been way too long. All of that being said, getting Manning and a stud WR could make up for this bad move, in my opinion.

Or more like Barkley next year if all else fails this year with not getting a QB worth anything. Omg I hope this isn't a long season and if so Bust for Barkley lmao I can see / read it now hahaha

Jeff Ireland should not survive a season where we end up with the number 1 pick. I don't see how this strategy would help him. He told Ross there was talent in place on this team, two years picking in the top ten and four straight of picking in the top 15 would not help his case.

Yep, that's what Ireland's plan is ..... get the #1 pick in 2013. Ireland is aweful please fire him Ross

It does not matter why they traded him. It was a bad trade. Ireland should of been able to get more back for Marshall. This is the worst deal he has brokered as our GM.

I like it. Draftek now has us drafting Micheal Floyd.

I certainly hope Dave Hyde is right.

There's no other reason to let Marshall go unless it's to roll out the teal carpet for Manning and Wayne.

I now have no faith in the Dolphins I can't believe that they would get rid of probably one of the players which the Dolphins are noted for in a positive way. We would have seen a very positive player this year with a different quarterback then CH. I feel this was a very bad move and I will put money on it that you are going to hear Marshalls Name many times in a very positive way with the Bears. Why is it that the Dolphins never keep potentially good players to develop on but get rid of and trade them. It would be different if they had someone else better but they don't they are starting from scratch one.

Were those 6 wins worth it last season? I would have rather had 1 or 2 wins and been in prime position for Luck or RG3. Look at us now. Ugh!

Yah being BM is such a hot commodity as it is? With all the FA WRs on the market right now

Please list all the free agent WRs that are superior to Brandon Marshall...

That is just about the only scenario I would be happy with.

Why couldnt we have Floyd AND Brandon Marshall??? Now we would have Floyd Hartline and Bess....color me underwhelmed. We better be getting Manning and Wayne or we may as well start talking about drafting Barkley now.

Maybe Miami has Blackmon high on their boards.

Manning, Wayne, Clark, Saturday, Blackmon, and maybe Winston too? That would be nice.

Letting Marshall go has to mean we're drafting a stud WR (blackmon or floyd) and clearing cap space for Manning and Clark or Saturday. Forget about Wayne, I dont see him a part of this deal. The phins would be smarter to grab a TE (which we desperately need) and a center (ditto), which also solves our RT/RG woes... now that carey and colombo are pretty much gone.

Every NFL player knows Bess is the true stud receiver (and highly underrated) on the team... so I say make him the #1 threat ala Welker (who has said himself that Bess is better than him). And uhh, did we forget we've got RB in the backfield?? hello?! Also don't forget we've got some pretty good young talent at the WR spot.

Annnd, I wouldn't bash Ireland so quickly. Realize this, Marshall (and anyone the dolphins trade right now) has low trade value for the simple reason everyone knows they need to clear cap space, even if not for Manning. It's a terribad bargaining position to be in. I look at the two 3rd-rounders Chicago gave as simply a 'courtesy' to somewhat save face, when in reality the phins woulda damned well practically let him go for free. Here's likely how the phone call went:

Ireland: "So, whadaya wanna gimme for Marshall?!"
BearsGM: "So, you scored Manning eh?"
Ireland: (silence)
BearsGM: "I'll do ya a favor and give ya two 3rd rounders. Take it or leave it."
Ireland: (grumble) fine!

I will applaud the FO if they simply score Manning because of this, moreso if they get Saturday, Wayne, or Clark. And moreso still if they draft Blackmon or Floyd.

p.s.
Remember the grumbles during the Heat trades of Odom, Butler, etc.? This kinda smells like that.
