One name that doesn't seem to get mentioned a lot is David Bowens. Bowens is set to become an URFA and I think he is a must re-sign for the Dolphins. He quietly had 5 sacks last season and has 18 sacks over the past three seasons. Plus, I believe he had a pretty good role on the special teams unit. Cameron and Mueller have to find a way to make sure Bowens re-signs and doesn't leave Miami. Thoughts?

Couldn't agree more. Great point.

And D-Bo doesn't really come across as the type who thinks he's better than he actually is and will command huge money.

Bowens has a way of finding the quarterback and thats a good thing. He is alot cheaper than carter.:dolphins::evil::dolphins:

D BO is the man. He always plays with great energy and enthusiasm. He's always around the ball too. I sure hope we find a way to bring him back but I'm afraid someone may land him with a good offer of more playing time. I know that he loves the Team and loves the city and he loves just playing the game of football. Its kind of rare nowadays. He's a guy that just loves playing football and doesnt care about all the other crap. I hope we bring him back and wish we had more like him. :cooldude:

Absolutely. This guy has been a consistent work horse on our squad, he's 29, and he's been tutored by the best. It would be disappointing to let him walk.

I agree with all of you.l Everytime he is on the field it seems like he makes a play. I would be sorely dissapointed if we do not resign him.

I agree with you. Bowens is one of our better pass rushers and should be resigned. We can't afford to give the opposing teams too much time to pass with our suspect secondary!

Our linebackers simply do not do a good job of getting to the QB on blitzes!

He's the only DE/OLB hybrid we have other than Taylor. We better resign him.

Actually he isn't the only one. Akbar Gbaja-Biamilla is a converted DE. He made the switch last year and struggled with it.

I had no hope to see this guy even make the team when I saw we signed him but after doing a bunch of reading on the guy I've changed my mind. He is 6'5" 245 and a great athlete. He has lost a lot of weight to improve his mobility in coverage.

He said the same things Jason said about going from a guy who has to focus on just one thing,(getting to the QB) to a guy who has to know a plethora of different schemes and assignments. It is very difficult mentally.

I think with his 1st year of transition under his belt and some good coaching from Capers and a little tutoring from JT, this guy may be able to backup JT.

At the same time I have been a Bowens fan from the get go. He deserves to be a starter and make big money. If we don't cut Carter I don't see him returning. He is good enough to start in the NFL and he deserves more respect and playing time than he can get with the Dolphins. But I do hope we keep him somehow.
