I didn't know he was even a possibility for an offseason trade but the boys at Pro Football Weekly think it's possible. If the price was right I would do it in a heartbeat. The guy has played behind the swiss cheese of all offensive lines since he came to the NFL. My feeling is we could salvage his career big time if he came over here. Here's an article about how the Jets are looking for a QB and how Carr may be a possibility for them. Personally, I would rather us make a go for him, settle our QB situation for the next 8 years and at the same time deny the Jets a shot at him

If they let him go, you gotta wonder how good he really is. But I don't think they'll let him go just yet.

I would be interested in Carr as well, providing the price is right. However I see David Carr as a reclamation project. The poor kid has absolutely no confidence. Playing behind that horrible Houston O-Line and only having one good receiver hasn't helped.

I think two years working with Scott Linehan could make a new man out of David Carr. He has all the physical tools and leadership qualities you look for in a QB. It's just a matter of rebuilding his confidence, which is easier said than done. Just look at David Klingler, the #1 draft pick of the Bengals in the early 1990s. He had all the tools and seemed to be a good leader, but playing behind an AWFUL Bengals line absolutely destroyed his confidence and he was never able to regain it.

That being said, I would take Carr in a trade for a 3rd or 4th round pick, although I know the Texans are going to try like hell to recoup that 1st round pick. I just doubt they'll get any takers. The asking price should go down and that's when I think we might become players.

During previous regimes here in Miami we've spent third round picks on gems like Lamar Gordon, Taylor Whitley, Grey Ruegamer (just to name a few), why not spend a 3rd or 4th on a potential franchise QB? It's a hell of a lot better than giving up what in essence was a 1st round draft pick for Philly's 3rd string QB.

Mod Edit: This is the second or third time I've had to edit your signature. That font was too big. I re-sized it, but if it happens again you'll get a small vacation. njfinfan

I think if they are within striking distance of Leinart they would love to get something in return for this guy. They would have to seriously consider it. They need offensive line help, I just can't see what their GM Casserly, who should be fired already, was thinking. You invest the money and draft pick to get Carr in here then you subject him to complete abuse for 3 or 4 years, just stupid when you think about it.

I think Carr will end up as a Dolphin. Have thought it for awhile actually.

since when was scott linehan proclaimed a qb guru? The Texans are in no way gonna trade David Carr...hes there franchise and there future...

David Carr can stay away from Miami. What you see now is what you get. It's hard to imagine him getting any better - definetly not much. He's had plenty of time to prove his worth. I thought last year would be the year he'd break out if he were going to. He's still struggling and making the same mistakes he's been making since he came into the league. He is just another QB with good tools but lacks what it takes to push over the top. Just my opinion.

Interesting side note

The Jets did not inquire about Chargers backup Philip Rivers or Titans backup Billy Volek.

ON NFL Today they said Volek was the first QB the Jets targeted and even had a quote from Fisher about how many #1s the Jets would be willing to part with.

Also the last paragraph tells the real story of the Jets situation. They are projected to be something like $12 million over the cap without cutting Pennington. So there is no way they can cut him without cutting half the team just to carry the cap hit.

With an $8M roster bonus hanging over him, Carr wouldn't be traded, he'd be cut. No one's going to fork over that kind of money for a reclamation project, even a talented one.

If he was cut, we'd be foolish not to make a run at Carr.

I think he's behind the worst offensive line in football and would play a lot better if he had any kind of protection back there.

I would LOVE to go after David Carr. While his career so far has been a little disappointing, the fact that Houston runs a terrible system and cant block for the poor guy has to factor into all of that. He can move, he's got an arm, accuracy and he's smart. I really think he would be a great pickup. The question is will Houston dump him? and if they do, how much will he want?

I more interested in the Brees/Rivers situation. That is obviously Drew's team. What do you do if your San Diego? As far as Carr, I don't think the Texans give up on him quiet yet. Unless they have a shot at Leinart.

the texans as a team suck. but Carr is good. Johnson is also good.

they arnt about to let him go any time soon.

they could however fire their head coach. which they should.

I'd be all for it. I'd love to see what this guy could do with some protection and a running game. Our line - even last year's - is head and shoulders above his. Remember - he was sacked more than 70 times his rookie season!

If he's not too banged up from the beating he's been taking, I'd be all over this. Kid has talent that - to this point at least - has been untapped.
