David Cornwell’s statement regarding Jonathan Martin

Well most professional organizations these are actually rules. I mean if Im ouside telling a dirty or a racist joke and someone hears me and complains I could face punishment under UCMJ

No professional organization has rules anywhere near the harshness of the UCMJ. And no one in the NFL is going into combat!

Very bad compairson...but nice Debby Dower try!

Oh!!!! And Martin hazed Samuda to just "fit in".

Problem is its all hear say. They present text messages but what about what he texted? Did he have these kind of acts as well? Martin is going to get exposed! Hes throwing the dolphins name in the dirt and is mentally unstable. He texted a friend it wasn't him and same day threw him under the buss. He's a bitch!

i dont think you know what hear say is. if martin said "brian hartline told me that richie incognito said he was going to **** in my half ****** mouth".....that would be hear say because martin did not hear richie say this himself he heard it from someone else. having a text message saved from richie directly to martin himself is pretty clear evidence.....not anywhere close to hear say. all of what martin camp has released so far has all been said or done directly to martin himself. none of this is hear say

Never said it was but every job has workplace eo and I cannot think of any workplace where racial and sexual comments are not punishable in the workplace.
THe NFL is no different in that respect. People want to act like the NFL somehow has immunity from having a workplace free of this.

This is all quite familiar in how Brandon Marshall was defended up and down until we traded him

Who wants to bet the "physical assault" they mention was the on-field fight with Jordan?

If so, this makes him look like even more of a P**S. This stuff happens on a football field, everywhere!

Even with UCMJ if you wherever in any combat arms unit you would hear way worse than that. My old unit was the worse and don't get us talking about kills and stuff you would have locked half my pilots up in a ward. Here is the deal though if someone got offended you knocked it off when they were around. I always asked the most important question first, did you tell that person it offended you if so did they stop? If they did that was the end of it, if they do it again then we start action.

Was this a voicemail or is this just taking Martin at his word? He said/she said doesn't hold much ground.

I agree. If this was just something that was said it will be impossible to prove.

Im 11b and your right you hear worse but any soldier looking out for his career in the modern army wold be mindful to be very careful with their words and for god sakes dont leave things like that on voicemail , social media or text messages.
The key is they dont have to tell you, although I think they should. In an Infantry unit though I could understand how a minority soldier might be apprhensive in having a conflict over language since they dont want to seem like a prude or an outcast and may want to try to fit in.

I fail to see a distinction between the practical usage of "determining" and "questioning" in this case. Posters have regularly stated they doubt the validity of Martins Statement based on the time it took him to come forward. What legitimate questions have been asked?
The investigation will pose the important questions. Hopefully it doesn't rest on Jonathan Martin's rendition of events, exclusively.

If you could point me to a study that backs up your claim on the action of victims I will be glad to read it. Say work place sexual harassment or anything you pick. I am happy to be wrong, for the record I believe you will find the exact opposite is true. Making it stop immediately is the exception.

The minority (40%) took no action.

Yep it does. But, there are more people who dont know enough about football than do. This D**CK is playing to the court of public opinion. And it will work. There are so many non football fans who will just say "omg, he was physically assaulted by a teammate!" They have no clue. It will only get worse.

Don't ask don't tell?

Really? Victims don't act like this, I would be curious why you think that, what do victims normally do in your experience?

I've witnessed a few of these over the years. It's been my experience from what I've observed, that in a work place environment, victims will not begin to gather evidence until they have first brought any alleged incident(s) to the attention of their supervisor and/or HR department, usually --- well in every case of escalation I've seen except one, they done this only after they have felt as if no action has been taken to alleviate the problem.

Every single victim I've seen has given the employer the opportunity to correct this situation prior to them exploring further avenues of relief. This includes a woman who was scared to death of her tormentor and a gay male who wanted go fit in with the guys .... the one exception I mentioned above? A lady who didn't inform the employer and had made statements that she wanted to retire early ... ultimately she lost her case and ended up quitting after she ruined this guy's career because he frequently used words like "sweetie" and "honey" .... shocker considering we're in North Carolina.

So, idk .... just throwing that out there.
