David Garrard has good chance to start

During the combine, Jeff Ireland said Matt More was "going ot be a big part of our team" and that he was "going to try to continue to help him as a player". I think thats a pretty big endorsement of Matt Moore by Ireland.

What would be stupid is to start Moore if Garrard is able to beat him out for the job. Because he's 34 and didn't play last year does that mean the guy can no longer play quarterback? I don't understand the thinking here :ponder:

Nearly every team keeps 3 QBs active because no one else can generally sub into the position.

Generally, you ALWAYS want to sit a rookie QB most or all of the first season to learn without getting his clock cleaned and developing bad habits and lack of self confidence out of fear and self preservation.

This rule should go double for Tannehill, who has started a whopping one season of college ball.
 
top 10 qb talent in garrard...you're killin me...how crazy is that talk...garrard our starter is dreadful...and that pro bowl nonsense again...after everyone and their mother backed out...

No they dont actually.

Most teams, including Miami, keep 2 QBs active and 1 on the practice squad.
 
I almost hope he gets cut in camp just so I don't have to endure an entire season of people butchering the spelling of his last name.

Even with other guys backing out this guy was there as an alternate. How many of the leagues 32 starting quarterbacks are even pro bowl alternates each year? This guy played very well in 2010 and i don't understand why you people won't acknowledge that. Is he our saviour........no he isn't. But is he a guy with good physical skills and experience........yes he is. And what is wrong with me stating my opinion that I believe he has a good chance to win the job? Does that justify some of these people trying to attack me personally because of it? Pretty sad to be honest. I read a lot of posts here that I disagree with but I'm not insulting these people because i disagree.

He's not the guy I wanted either but we didn't get him so it's time to move on. I don't think i'm being ridiculous in saying that he has a chance against Matt Moore. Is Matt Moore our great savior and Marino's replacement? Matt Moore isn't that great either or he wouldn't have been a bargain bin pickup too. I think it's close between these two players and won't be surprised either way.

Now they need to draft the future next month and get him ready to play..........That's what I want!!

nsbnative, don't expect much from the posters replying to this thread. There are only a few very knowledgeable posters that I actually pay attention to, and they don't flood this board with constant negativity. David Garrard has shown skill and talent and gone places backups generally don't go. Taking a flyer on him is an excellent move, and I have to believe that Philbin probably endorses this signing as well. Now I'm not drawing a huge comparison here, but I wonder what people were saying when Rich Gannon signed with Oakland. Look at how that turned out for a few years.

Thanks for the insight on this............I'll be more selective when replying to the blind negativity.

I like the Rich Gannon comparison and that's what I'm hoping we have here. It would sure be nice to have that for a season or so while our young guy gets ready.

if you like guys who can't get you over the hump then garrards definitely your guy...provided he's healthy enough to play games for you at this point...

i don't like settling for these past their primes taking us no where qbs...and that rich gannon stuff that one guys talking about is quite the leap...
 
Unfortunately that's all there is at this time. Is there a better option out there right now for us besides drafting a guy? Please enlighten me as to what you think we should do at quarterback at this point because I would of course prefer a better option as well.

Some of the replies I'm seeing have absolutely nothing to do with my original post. The point of my post was that I think that Garrard has a good chance against Moore..........not that Garrard is the next great coming!
