David Garrard = Jim Plunkett

IT doesn't....
It's not really an argument.
Its like this: If I am right I am a genius...and if I am wrong...Who cares?
That's what being a homer is all about!

Will we get to read a thread created by you clamoring about how smart you are, and offer you a cookie?

It's not important...
Being a fan - when our team plays well and wins - its euphoric...
And when we are bad and lose for years, decades....Its a ball and chain...
I often wish I could be a Saints fan, or a Giants fan or a 49ers fan or something like that...
But it does not work that way...It does not really make any sense at all, but....

So I am stuck with David Garrard...So what's the best possible scenario for him in a Dolphin uniform...Jim Plunkett - an washed has been - forgotten and disposed of - and somehow showing the world he has more left in the tank...

But we are all board in late May so I thought I might bring it up...People on this board have a VERY short fuse and its kinda funny to me see them go off - even if its me being a homer that they are targeting when going off...That's funny to me...

You can't compare the Garrard signing to signing Pepp to that huge contract

Plunkett - for you NFL fan youngsters - was a QB for New England and then the Niners in the 70's....and made his name as a Raider in the twilight of his career.

A great defense. Lester Hayes and Mike Haynes were GREAT book end corners. Marcus Allen was there great half back.

And Plunkett was the last piece of their puzzle who played great for them and won superbowls in his late 30's.

Garrard has all of the ingredients to help the Dolphins rise to greatness.

A seasoned veteran that knows game management and how to utilize the tools around him....

OK hopefully I'm right!

GARRARD isn't even CLOSE to PLUNKETT, talent-wise. GARRARD is d*ck. A mediocre talent on his best day. He's more solidly mediocre, now, only w/a bad back at age 34.

That's the whole point...Everyone said the same thing about Plunkett - he was cut - sat out of football - was signed to the Raiders - was a backup - and it burned him bad to sit and watch others play ahead of him...

The only thing that got him in the game was injuries to other Raider QB's....And he was the right guy at the right time...Winning two superbowls...

I actually do believe that Garrard has potential to do a lot of good things for this franchise right now. A veteran with some fuel left in the tank that knows how to utilize talent can go far for us...Pennington drove me crazy as a Jet because he was such a cerebral or mental athlete...His physical abilities were so limited, but he knew how to win with his brain - and that is exactly what he did for us...

I don't see any comparison. Are you saying your corners are like Hayes and Haynes? (though Haynes missed most of '83 and didn't playn for Oak in '80), are you saying you have a young Marcus Allen(though he wasn't around in '80).

Garrard is a quality starting QB when healthy w/o a doubt and if he is healthy he will win this competition but you aren't winning SBs w/ him. By the time Miami builds up enough around the QB Garrard will be done.
