David Garrard's hold on the Miami Dolphins' starting quarterback job is in peril, but after having arthroscopic surgery on Saturday to clean up "loose things floating around" in his knee, the veteran passer sounded ready to get back to work.

"Everything went great this morning. Be back before u know it!! Phins Up!!!" Garrard tweeted.
Doctors told Garrard he'll be out two to four weeks, which means Matt Moore and Ryan Tannehill will spend the rest of the preseason battling to be Miami's No. 1 signal-caller. The timing of Garrard's operation was brutal, announced hours before he was set to lead the Dolphins into their preseason opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

I don't see how we carry him into game 1 of the season guaranteeing his contract. Why would we?

I agree, it just doesn't make any sense to bring him back now this has happened. We have our two QB's, Devlin can be third. Save the $$$$ and move on. I hope Garrard gets healthy and enjoys retirement.

I do to. Its a shame we gave him such a high signing bonus that he gets to collect but we needed a backup plan at the time before the draft.

I also can't see Miami starting the season with a Qb who didn't play at all last year, knee surgery and no preseason playing time.

If Tannehill plays decently with the 1s this week in practice and has another good showing in next week's game, Garrard is done. Keeping Garrard and Moore was based on the assumption that Tanny would be more developmental this year. If Tannehill is competent enough that you feel you could put him in a game and have a chance to win, he's at worst your No. 2 and your developmental guy is Devlin.

Save the 2.25M. Or heck, use it to bring in someone at LB, DB, or WR. Who knows what acorns may fall in the coming weeks...

Ireland, let the two young guys Moore/Tanny have their snaps .... forget this Garrard stuff. Move on from it.

Garrard got a nice paycheck for spring and summer work...now he can retire with a little. More financial cushion.

Cut him and Chad Johnson...the team is going younger and they aren't needed. Not like we're going anywhere this year anyway. Might as well develop for the future.

Save the money. It was worth a try bringing him in, but whats the point in keeping him if he is going to miss virtually the entire training camp and preseason? He's not a team veteran who has chemistry with our players, he doesnt know the playbook, hes not a locker room leader. You might want to be back for Miami, but Miami wont be back for you. See ya Garrard.

The Matt Moore ride continues.

Which is all he really wanted. His line about vowing to come back is total bs and he knows it. He is just saying that because he knows he will likely be cut anyway and by saying what he said it just continues his masquarade as if he really wants to play.

YO!!! Lukobratzy, I got a Miami job for you!!! We need to send some guy to sleep with the Fishies. You up for the job? The quicker Miami gets an injury settlement with Garrard the better.

Exactly. It's not like this franchise is tied to him in someway...guy hasnt even played a game and is already "vow-ing" to come back? Cut him now and be done with it. No big deal.
