David Garrard winning the QB battle so far

If he can be anywhere close to effective as Pennington was in 2008, we are competing for a playoff spot.

I wouldn't hold my breath on that until I see him in real action though. He's coming of back surgery and missed a whole year last year.

I would not count out Garrard winning the job and then falter and/or getting hurt mid-season, forcing Moore back into the mix.

I think it was unanimous on Days 1 and 2, but Day 3 seems to be a half-n-half. Half believe Tannehill was the sharpest and half think Garrard still edged him. On another board there were two guys who were at practice and posted detailed accounts and one thought Tannehill was clearly the best today while the other thought Garrard edged him. Dave Hyde noted that Garrard and Moore don't look very good, Andy Kent comes out on the Tannehill side, Armando thinks Garrard was still the most accurate today, ... very mixed.

Even the preseason game situation will show alot about who is the most ready too start. Practice other than timing and playbook doesn't tell you much.

I want the best player to play. I'm not down with the philosophy that if Tannehill is close you start him. If he's not the best player at that position to win games then sit him.

With his limited experience in college it wouldn't be a bad thing.

Yawn.

Call me in a couple weeks. Everyone is so eager to crown somebody in the infant stages of camp.

It's quite scary what little patience people on this board have when it comes to these kinds of things.

New offense being installed fellas. Give it time. The cream will rise to the top and we will get our answers.

Tanny was clearly the better qb today, i would imagine he is the frontrunner right now!

Was Tanny playing against a defensive group that will be working for UPS or Winn Dixie in a few months
or was he playing against our first team defense...makes a bit of a difference?

To me it is the preseason games that is going to determine the winner of the QB battle, not day to day practices. They all appear to be close, but I want to see them all in game action.

On one hand I like Garrard and think if healthy he can be a very good QB for us. On the other hand I liked what Moore did in the last half of the season and would love to see him get the job. I still think sitting Tannehill for at least the first half the season, if not the whole thing, is the way to go. This is a very exciting battle, though we all know what the final outcome a year from now will be. Tannehill will eventually be in command of the offense.

It's hard to determine it that way because the guy who does better in practice will get more reps with the starters.

IMO Garrard has this in the bag. Unless he totally starts practicing/playing like **** and one of the others i lights from here on out, Garrard will start.

He has this in the bag already?

It's just my opinion, but he practices very well and he will play very well in preseason games.

Its not to say he will be a stud this year. In fact, I think he may earn the starting job and then struggle come the regular season.

You can bet that no matter who wins the starting job, he will face the same question every week, should he be yanked for one of the other two QBs?
