Davis sets his sights on INTs.

Dolphins rookie cornerback vows to be more proactive than reactive in guarding elite receivers.

By Harvey Fialkov, Sun Sentinel December 25, 2009

DAVIE - Dolphins rookie cornerback Vontae Davis is tired of Sunday school.

"He's sick of learning difficult lessons while giving up six long touchdown receptions to a series of elite receivers, even though he's usually running stride for stride with the likes of Randy Moss, Terrell Owens and Steve Smith.

With two must-win games remaining and Texans three-time Pro Bowl receiver Andre Johnson up next, the Dolphins' precocious bulls-eye is intent on becoming the hunter instead of the prey."

lets hope he dont overreact and by the way he should be able to keep up with those old men(moss, owens, smith)

I don't know why but I got all the faith in the world in vontae, I think he's the one he's our next pat surtain.

Vontae seems to be able to stay with the receivers but just as the ball gets there he falls down or he slaps at the ball and totally misses it and gives up a huge catch. It's like he is just a split second behind on making the pick or slapping it away. I hope Andre Johnson doesn't take him and Sean Smith to school.

He has a bright future. But tommorow he'll look like a rook. Hell Andre Johnson makes every corner look like a rook.

Would be nice if Sean Smith got a little redemption and pulled off some kind of sick INT on Johnson (or anyone really) like Vontae did to Moss in round 1.

I wish we had nnamadi asomuhah, put vontae at SS, Smith at CB2, and traded up for eric berry but ill settle for a pick and a playoff berth..

Vontae at SS would be crazy, (if of course we had a 2 better options at CB then him, CB speed, cb coverage skills, LB hitting skills, and roaming the field  sick. he'd have to bulk up a little though

Agree with u and like ur sig draft.. i think id rather something like this though.

Tender ronnie for a 2nd and hope someone bites..

1st- Terrance Cody/Dan Williams, NT
2nd- Ricky Sapp, OLB
2nd- Mardy Gilyard, WR/KR/PR
3rd- Toby Gehart, RB
4th- Jimmy Graham, TE

Sign Karlos Dansby and antonio Bryant. wow. (im only getting rid of Ronnie because of how valuable 2nds are this year. the fact that parcells has had 2 seconds the past two drafts, and Toby is way less injury prone and more dependable.. Ronnie has shown he is way too injury prone but worth a 2nd for some team..

I wish Smith had one. He's been so damn close.

Playing 14 games and having 0 INT's is flat out ridiculous. 3/4 of the secondary has combined for 1 INT, pathetic.

The Dolphins next lockdown corner! He is learning but atleast he is taking responsibility to get better.

There are a lot of guys in the 2010 draft that I really would love to see on the Phins, but you also have to be realistic about which guys will be there. There are a lot of good WR's (Dez Bryant, Tate, Gilyard, Benn, LaFell, etc.), I just hope we can get a nice # 1 WR. If Gerhart was there in the 3rd round I would love to grab him....he could be our new Larry Csonka. If you haven't seen Pitta of BYU at Tight End, he is really good and I think he will picked on Day One by someone.

I think Ronnie may or may not be here next year depending on the CBA....from what I have heard, if they come to an agreement on a CBA then Ronnie can become a free agent next year.....if they don't come to an agreement, then Ronnie has a one year extension clause in his contract which will keep him here through the end of the 2010 season.

Vontae has been in position to add to that INT total a few times but has come up empty. On the other side it seems like Smith rarely gets thrown at but when he does his guy is wide open while Davis typically has good coverage but bad ball skills/timing. Davis being a hard hitter and Smith being the equivalent of Ginn playing defense is what really separates them in my eyes. Smith seems soft and unwilling to hit somebody.

Not a fan of LaFell (Wilford like WR) or Gilyard (really raw)...if we take a WR it better be one capable of being a #1 which LaFell isnt.
