Dawn Aponte promoted to Executive VP of Football Administration

No she said Tannehill was prepared to re-enter the draft.

Yeah he said he was prepared and that was because Aponte made a threat stating that if they didn't get a deal sorted, she would have no problem letting him re-enter.

It is also possible that the Aponte conversation with Philbin on HardKnocks is scripted. It makes the Dolphin stance on offset language look unpenetrable.

...it's all in the presentation

i've spent time in ross and irelands company before an lets just say i think it is relevant...with the way they treated my wife...pulled her right up to the table ordered her a beer gave her 30 minutes of their time at least...i don't think that would have gone down had my wife looked like broom hilda

So, again, how is that relevant? You know, to football related matters? Or are we supposed to be impressed they thought your wife was hot?

just imagine if we had played hard ball to the point tanny did go back in the draft and become legit for someone else...holy hell this place would RIOT
So true. Instead of protesters, there would have been snipers posted outside of the facility.

i think given my experience with them that its relevant to ask what she looks like when she gets a promotion...period...relevant to me at least...not that they were over the top or anything...very nice in fact...but very very nice to my wife...that's all

Reminds me of the Seinfeld episode when Elaine promoted the mail clerk guy just to get him out of the meetings.

I don't think that is correct. iirc she told Tannehill to sign the contract as is or he'll sit a year and re-enter the draft in 2013. That struck me as odd- as one could imagine, the Dolphins weren't willing to risk it and signed him. Good luck with that promotion- she'll piss off players and agents enough that I could see some telling her to go f*** herself and her attitude and offset language and actually re-enter the draft or sign elsewhere as free agents. I think that how she handled Tannehill was stupid, but that's obviously a limited and outside opinion. I don't like her from what I've seen and heard.

And I wouldn't want to bone her either.

I am referring to what was heard on Hard Knocks so not sure what you have heard.

in the end had this become a long term holdout had the dolphins not caved in on this thing and let go of the demand for offset language and tannehill actually decided to go ahead and enter the 2013 draft again ireland and aponte and ross for that matter would need a military escort to and from work every day...miami can act like they were prepared to let the kid enter the draft but this fanbase would have gone way more postal than a couple guys with bags over their heads at that team headquarters...they would have needed riot police...

so her tough talk is just posturing on the teams part imo...luckily ryan didn't want to continue holding out wanted to get on the field and play cause he loves the game...some other guys they may call your bluff for a good while at least

She was intoduced in Hard Knocks as a VP, so it sounds like this promotion happened a while ago but it sounds like they are making it official now. Usually they dont even make anouncements on administrative changes, so this was probably prompted by the tv show.

Dawn is a killer negotiator, that's all I can say. If we had Pat Riley to make the sale and Dawn Aponte to negotiate the terms, we'd be the NFL all-star team.

Remember, she actually got players to agree to terms with CLEVELAND.

Wait, doesn't Tannehill's contract include the offset language? I thought that they were willing to offer him more money up front each season as a roster bonus, but the offset language stayed in the contract.

That is correct. Both sides got what they wanted. Tannehill receives more guaranteed money up front and the Dolphins got the off-set language written into his contract.

yeah it does include the offset language but had tanny decided that no way no how is he gonna have the offset language in his deal miami would have eventually had to give in...no doubt in my mind about it...they would have lost the fan base had the qb they hand picked to be the guy going forward and they told everyone he was the guy all along gone back into the draft over us being that stubborn...

ross frankly couldn't afford it...not money wise obviously but with the fan base...

as for the "tough talk" registered on apontes part i meant the tough talk prior to him signing about he can go back into the draft...thats a bunch of bunk...ross would have jumped in eventually
