I will start off by saying I personally want Hakeem Nicks as our number one, but I don't think it's going to happen. I also think this is going to be a very defensive heavy draft as we have have more aging veterans on that side of the ball:
- Vontae Davis DB Illinois-- He has everything you look for in a DB including the ability to bring the lumber. I think his attitude problems are something that can be correcteded due to our strong coaching staff, Parcells, and the strong veteran leadership.
a- Clint Sintim OLB Virginia-- Natural 3-4 OLB that can step into our defense and start from the day he puts his pads on. He also has the ability to transition to the inside also. The thing I likeabout him is he got 11 sacks this year from the OLB position so he knows how to get to the passer and to close the gap. And unlike some prospects who get to the QB and drag him down, this guy tries his damndest to give that QB whiplash. Intense and a leader in the Porter mold....Probably the guy he ends up replacing.
B- Cody Brown OLB Connecticut-- Great Athlete who will move from DE to OLB. You can never have enough pass rushers. Roth is a nice goal line backer for the run, but we need more burst. Cam Wake has amazing physical talent, but he didn't take the league by storm on his first crack so I don't think you can count on him until he is in full pads. Thus the selection of Brown.
- Kevin Barnes DB Maryland-- A very talented DB who was part of the leadership commitee at Maryland. He needs to bulk up, but was 1st day pick before his injury
- Terrance Taylor NT Michigan-- This guy has the potential to be a terrific NT for years to come. 37 reps at 225 shows that he's strong enough to handle the spot. He'll never be mistaken for a pass rush specialist, but he will make some ILB's very happy. He will need to develop a year behind Ferg.
- Frantz Joseph ILB FAU-- This guy is simply a thumper. It doesn't matter what you are OL, HB, FB, WR, TE, QB...You get in this guys way he's gonna waste you! He doesn't have great speed, but is a little reminiscent od Zach Thomas as he just knows howto get to the ball. If drafted by Miami he could possibly put Akin A. on the bench by the 2nd preseason game.
- Brooks Foster WR UNC-- The kid has size and all of the natural athletic ability in the world. He's a team player and doesn't have any diva issues. He will need to develop, but if given time this kid could be special, but he will need time and coaching.
- Dominique Edison WR Stephen F. Austin-- Small school receiver that was a team captain. He also proved to be a true weapon his senior year averaging just over 15yds per reception and hauling in 18TD's.
- Mike Teel QB Rutgers-- It sounds like Beck will be moved so we need a 3rd string that has backup potential. Teel was a key player in the turn-around of the Rutgers program. Has a nice arm and can make the throws, but sometimes you question what in the blue hell he's doing with some of the picks he throws. Has abiliyt, but can coaching correct his flaws?
