IS it true that he only makes about 1 mil this and then it jumps to about 6-7 mill next year.
We renegotiated his contract almost as soon as we signed him. His base salery for this year is one million but he also gets 1.4 in amoritised bonuses for a total cap hit this year of 2.4 million. Next year his cap number jumps to I think 8 or 9 million but I am still trying to find the exact number.finintheburgh said:i just wanted to know whether he is still under the contract he signed in minny or if we signed him to a new one.

If I remember correctly his base salery for this year was suposed to be somthing like 9 or 10 million. We renegotiated it to 1 million base salery and converted the rest into a bonus that could be spread over the life of the contract.finintheburgh said:did we give him a huge signing bonus or is it just the base salaries.
Aparently I was right about the signing bonus being the other 7 million he had been slated to make.Dolphins | Culpepper contract has many incentives

Jason Cole, of the Miami Herald, reports Miami Dolphins QB Daunte Culpepper's restructured contract can earn an additional $1.35 million if he is the NFL Most Valuable Player, Offensive Player of the Year, plays at least 75 percent of the offensive plays, leads Miami to the Super Bowl title and is named the MVP of the Super Bowl, according to an NFLPA source. Culpepper can earn parts of that along the way, such as $150,000 for being the league MVP and/or another $100,000 for being the league's Offensive Player of the Year. The bulk of the incentives are tied to him playing at least 75 percent and leading the Dolphins to at least one playoff victory. The further the Dolphins advance in the playoffs, the more money Culpepper can earn. The incentive money is on top of his $7 million signing bonus and $1 million base salary for the 2006 season.
This is driving me nuts that I cant find the story I am looking for but my guess is that when we renegotiated his deal we didn't change those base salaries. However there will be some bonus money on top of those base numbers, the rest of the 7 million roster bonus for one and probably some incentives escalators based on performance as well. Still when you consider that Brees is a 10 million dollar a year guy and that the cap has went up by about 10 percent since then those are VERY manageable numbers for a franchise qb.jd13 said:he is signed through 2013...he will make 5.5m next year, 6m in 2008-09, 7m in 2010, 8m in 2011, 9min 2012 and 10m in 2013...those are his base saleries...its in dolphin digest and has everybody on the teams base salaries and what year they are signed through...c-peps contact is cap-friendly which is another reason saban chose him over brees...

and since he got traded i think that contract goes over to miami, meaning he will be on contract with the dolphins for another 6 or so years
unless traded or released( if someone hires him as a free agent)
we got to pay the original contract
