De La Hoya will teach the young Mayweather that it takes more than just pitty pat punches to be a great boxer.

:sidelol:

you must of never seen mayweather fight if you think he is a pitty pat puncher.

did you happen to catch Gottis near death experience? a guy thats known for going all the way and taking crazy punishment. albeit, he isnt quite the brawler he used to but mayweather is FAR from a slap boxer.

Mayweather if he fights more and keeps his streak going will be considered the best pound for pound fighter ever!

is Sr. going to train him?

but dont try and compare gotti....gotti isnt anywhere in the same league as either on of these fighters

i know. im not. thats why i made a point to say hes a fighter known as a brawler and known to take poundings. to say mayweather has no power is insane.

and no Sr isnt training him. i think he said it would take like 2 million for him to train him. so they went and got someone else.

this is going to be a great fight tho

Rumor has it Floyd Sr. will be working with Floyd Jr. Oscar won't win this fight. He hasn't been active enough, isn't quick enough to mess with Floyd, and Floyd won't stand there like a punching bag like Mayorga did. Floyd will win a lopsided decision IMO, 9 rounds to 3 or so. Now if Oscar fights Floyd like he fought Mosley the second time, he's got a chance to win because he will be able to control Floyd's speed with his jab like he did Mosley in that fight (by the way, I thought Oscar won that fight clearly). But that was a long time ago and again, I think Oscar's inactivity will hurt him and I don't think he can match Floyd's speed. At this point Floyd is at the top of the game and Oscar is a promoter. I can't see Oscar winning it even though I'm a big fan of his (I like both fighters equally however)!

This is a great match-up but won't be a great fight IMO. Neither fighter will be willing to engage in the middle of the ring so I can't expect it to be a classic fight per say. Oscar's gameplan will be to work the jab and keep Mayweather at a distance. I fully expect him to use the same gameplan he used against Mosley the 2nd time they fought (repeating myself lol). Floyd's plan will be similar although I expect him to try get inside more, land a punch of two, and then get out using his speed. If these two engage, Floyd will be in trouble because even though both fighters don't brawl regularly (they box), Oscar has been in those situations more then Floyd has and will be more equipped to handle a fight like that. This has the makings of one of those fights where a fan will be more hyped when the two are coming into the ring and being announced then during any moment during the fight. Especially if Floyd handles his business like he usually does against fighters even remotely as talented as De La Hoya. Let's just hope Oscar don't roll over and then sign Floyd to Golden Boy Promotions after the fight!

Every fighter that Oscar has fought has felt his powerful left hook.

Nobody has ever really tested Mayweather's chin, because they can't catch up to him, too much speed.

Although Mayweather is a great boxer, I think in a 12 round fight DLH catches him with at least a few good power punches.

DLH is just too good a boxer not to test Jr.'s chin.

Weight is another big, and I mean big factor that not a lot of people are talking about. DLH really comfortable at this weight.

mayweather will probably hit and run his way to a decision. i'm really not that excited for this fight. winky/hopkins either. could both be stinkers.

If the golden boy catches Floyd with that left hook forget it. I pulling for De La Hoya but damn Floyd is good. Its gonna be a good fight.
