They'll duke it out May 5, 2007 (Cinco de Mayo) for Oscar's junior middleweight title. Mayweather says it'll be his last fight. Oscar says he'll continue to fight after this bout. Oscar is trained by Floyd's estranged father, though it's not a given at this point that he'll remain in that corner for this fight. I'm pumped for the fight.

Terms were not disclosed, but both sides said that the fighters will make career-high purses. In De La Hoya's case, that means more than $25 million. For Mayweather, it means at least $10 million. Both will probably earn much more than that if the pay-per-view is a hit.

They finally put it together? I'll be damned! I can't wait!

sweet!

its a shame there is no one out there to challenge Floyd. him walkin away isnt a bad decision though imo. if he gets around 20 milli, he should walk away.

There are some challengers out there that would give Floyd a run...Margarito, Hatton etc. But this is what Floyd has been wanting. I'm pumped about this. This is not a prime DLH but Oscar is a GREAT fighter and the fact that they are fighting at 154 helps Oscar. No doubt PBF will be the favorite but do not count the Golden Boy out. Oscar is the promoter too. Do you know how much loot he is gonna make off of this when it's all said and done? WOO! I'm really hoping they make this fight happen in LA, but there are some tax issues, so it will prolly end up in Vegas.

I CAN NOT WAIT FOR THIS SUPERFIGHT!!

I'm surprised Pretty Boy would be happy with De Lay Hoya making so much more money then he is. Though 10 mill+ is nothing to sneeze at

This is what the sport of boxing needed. I'm proud Oscar made the decision to fight Mayweather instead of fighting Tito or somebody else. This is the true test for Oscar and if he wins this, he's going to go down at one of the greatest of all time (he's up there already but this would ice the cake). The good thing also is that this isn't going to be Oscar's last fight as previously stated. He's going to continue fighting after this fight while Mayweather is now the one talking retirement. Strang to say the least but boxing needs this so props to De La Hoya for making the decision to fight Floyd!

By the way, Floyd Sr. will be in Oscar's corner and Roger will be out of jail, his suspension will be up (I believe it was a year), so this isn't just a great fight, it's personal!

This is written in stone just quite yet. I heard Oscar talking about it this morning and he's meeting with Sr this weekend to figure it out. It certainly didn't sound like Oscar had a plan b so I wouldn't be surprised if Sr takes it on. I can't wait!

When this PPV does near 2 million PPV buys, Floyd will be swimming in money. Oscar gets the big chunk because Oscar's the bigger draw and one of the promotors (935,000 buys to see him fight Mayorga compared to 300 and change that saw Floyd Baldomier) while Floyd gets 10 no matter what and a percentage of the PPV sales (and maybe gate and merchanidise also), which if this fight does the numbers they think it's going to do, will be out of this world and make him get around 20 to 30 million!
