I think one of these two may slip to us in the 4th round, most likely Mark Anderson. Mark Anderson could be the perfect fit for our 3-4 scheme as an OLB who is athletic & can rush the passer, while still displaying nice size [6'4/254]. We passed on Manny Lawson earlier, and obviously will not get a talent like that in round 4. However, I think Anderson will be a player at the next level and could develop nicely into a starting caliber player; maybe even a gem. He may not be a full time OLB type of guy, but he could probably come in as a situational guy. He certainly has the ability. He has a lot of potential, with good size, athletic ability, quickness, and pass rushing capabilities. Here is his draft bio from Scott Wright's NFL Draft Countdown site:
Mark Anderson - DE/OLB - Alabama - 6'4/254/4.61
Strengths:
Has a good frame with long arms...More quick than fast...Plays with good technique...Smart with good instincts...Excellent in pursuit and in space...Does a good job of getting penetration...Hard worker with a good motor...Has a lot of quality experience...Productive and came through with a solid senior campaign
Weaknesses:
Undersized and lacks bulk...Is not a great athlete...Timed speed is only average at best...Needs to get stronger...Has trouble shedding blocks...Doesn't seem to have the agility that would allow him to make the move to linebacker...Not very strong at the point of attack...Must develop a wider array of pass rush moves.
Notes:
A bit of a 'tweener who may need to shift to outside linebacker in a 3-4 scheme at the next level...His best fit may very well be as a situational pass rusher although he is not very dynamic in that area...Solid but doesn't stand out in any one area.
He's just a great option for us. As of right now, my guy is still Darnell Bing as a SS.
