Dead Serious: What options do we have next year (At QB)?

If Tua rebounds from his concussions and pursues his career with the Fins, his health has to be a concern for Miami.
  • 2021 - Tua played 13 games out of 17
  • 2022 - Tua played 13 games out of 17 (assuming he will not be back for the jets)
I do not see many options in the free agency market this coming year. Maybe Brady? The team will need to have a very strong Backup QB. If Teddy two gloves carries us the next two weeks, they should look to extend his contract asap.

The thought of watching Tua FOR AN ENTIRE SEASON next year makes me sick. He's an amazing backup and a hell of a guy and I wish him the best but he has no confidence in himself and he just melted down. He can't win when it matters. He's a poor-man's Kirk Cousins and I'd take Cousins 100 times before I'd take Tua.

What are our options next year? Please walk me off the ledge

Derek Carr? - Is he really an upgrade?
Aaron Rodgers? - I'd give my left nut for a beyond-his-prime Rodgers
Tom Brady? - See above
Jimmy G? - Say what you want, but I'd take him over Tua
Lamar Jackson? - Not a chance Ravens let him walk and we dont have the $$ but it'd be nice to dream

Rodgers ain't leaving. If he plays next year, it's for GB. Just getting warmed up with his new receivers.

Carr blows. I'd rather face him twice a year than tua.

Jimmy G? He's about as durable as tua, and isn't that the problem?

Lamar a dream? Yowza. Dude can run like a mother, but throwing outside the numbers just isn't his thing... And he's supposed to be a QB. Having a pretty good year but only because it's a contract year, and that's a HUGE 🚩

Tom Brady. Pretty much washed may have some left in the tank. But do you really want that? You willing to sell your soul to the goatman? I wouldn't stand for it in Buffalo. Love the Bills but Tommy terrific is more like whiney Tom the evidence destroying cheat-bot.

Seriously though... There is ZERO chance in my mind that Tua isn't the starter next year for however many games he's healthy enough to suit up for.

You're all bunch of fair weathered fans. Tua is hurt, concussed, that's the reason for the Int's. Build an OL, utilize TE's properly and learn how to adjust a gameplan mid-game and he will be fine. He had 5 int's going into GB for god's sake. He is a precision passer, accurate to a fault. Look at he seasons that Tyreek and Waddle are having. Run the ball CONSISTENTLY, use the run to pass and he will be fine. No retreads please!!!!!

I understand what you're saying, but at the same time, Tua gave the team 7 games with a rating over 100 despite missing 2.5 games... Only 5 QBs had more. Of course Tua not missing games would be much better but it doesn't mean replacing him is a better option unless the new guy can give you those games. With the available options, Its a huge gamble. I think you can get away with Tua on the team if your backup can give you some 90-95 rating performances when his number is called, that'll win you more games than not and should have you in good position for playoffs year in year out. I think thats the best way to go at it while he's on his rookie contract, it'll be decision time when that expires.

Given Tua’s situation I’d take Derek Carr next year. I still think he has the chops to QB a talented team.

LJ won an MVP lol stop it

Rodgers/Love > someone is gone.. I'll take a chance on Love > Tua

Carr plays entire seasons, Tua plays half seasons. Carr would easily throw for 4K yards and 30 TDs in this offense. Is he my favorite pick? No. But he's durable and has a strong arm. He league knows Raiders want to move on from him so they have no leverage. He can probably be had for a 3rd round pick.

Agreed on Jimmy G

Tom Brady is definitely playing poorly but his OL is in shambles and his WRs are always hurt. See Carr above-- Durable, strong arm. 4K yards, 30 TDs in this offense

Just go root for another team? Seems the easiest route.

I'm a Dolphins fan, not a Tua fan. He's clearly not capable of playing an entire season so if you'd like yet another season of playing backup QBs half the year, then by all means, otherwise, shut your mouth and sit down

Truly insane to me that people want to go back into QB roulette because guy had one bad game, will miss three to four games, and was really good in the other twelve.
One bad game? 3 of his last 4 games have been abysmal. He misses a quarter of the season every year (at least). He's had injuries issues since college and now he has had multiple concussions. Yikes.
He plays well against the Lions, Bears, and Texans.. Congrats

McD's system is QB friendly (see Purdy in San Fran)- We can get Derek Carr in here who actually is extremely durable who would throw for 4K yards and 30 TDS and most importantly, play an entire season.
