Deal For Brown Picks Up Pace

http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/...aug03,0,664991.story?coll=sfla-dolphins-front

Sun-Sentinel just posted a similar story, but with some quotes from Gordon:

Lamar Gordon, who is working with the first team in Brown's absence, said he wasn't sure how long it would take the rookie to catch up with what he has missed.

But Gordon does believe there will be an adjustment period based on his rookie season in St. Louis in 2002.

"For me, the plays weren't too bad, but it was the speed of the game," Gordon said.

"I came from a Division II school [North Dakota State], so the speed was crazy. That's what took me a while, but as far as everything else, he should be able to pick it up fine."

The SEC is a whole different world, Lamar. Ronnie will be fine. If Tomlinson is any indication, he'll get fatigued as the season goes on. Luckily, it seems the team will have Ricky to spell him, rendering that problem moot.

I am not really sure what our cap situation is like right now. I would say after Ronnie is signed, we are probably around $1 million under. Might be a little more, but I am not real sure.

Also, thanks for the compliments.

If Nub's right and we only got a million then that's it. Teams keep a million around for injury replacements (ala the center we just picked up).

What else is really even necessary at this point? I get the idea people want another TE, but I don't really see the need. Similarly, it seems to me that it really isn't necessary to add another CB unless somebody like Bobby Taylor makes the team a deal. If that happened, I imagine there are ways of sneaking him in (like extending McMichael, I'm guessing).

I honestly believe that secondary is set, for better or worse for this season. There will be no more serious pick-ups.

you are welcome nub and thanks 4 the info i just hope we have enough to get a cb maybe tbuck if we dont have enough to get law i know he is a very long shot but tbuck will satisfy me

1st off: Nubs, great job. You are appreciated.

2nd: The Dolphin's FO for better or worse is pretty stubborn. I hope the sides meet somewhere in the middle, say $20.5 mil guaranteed. To the poster referring to Huizenga's money: it's not about that, it's about the cap space that gets eaten up. Hopefully Ronnie will be in camp soon so we can see what the future of our backfield looks like.

3rd: Koyung, if that's your picure you are a hottie ;)

You rule NUB :) I hope Brown is signed soon, you have to remember Williams wo't play or practice the first 4 games so Brown could be learning a lot from Williams in camp! Go Saban Go !

Another source said a deal to end Brown's absence from training camp could be done as early as today.

god i hope so, it will eliminate the every half hour check of espn.com i do to see if he was signed yet...
