I hear a lot of people complaining or concerned about ruining henne's timing or game feel by taking him out for a series of wildcat plays. something being overlooked that I had thought about and then heard Sparano say during a press conference, is that when that happens, its like a timeout.

essentially, henne is getting like 6-8 timeouts a game. they are able to talk to him on the sidelines and setup the next few plays or give him some intel on the defense. and you notice, they usually run 2-3 wildcat plays in a row maybe that's to give them extra time with henne on the sideline.

its pretty smart, honestly. its a change of pace to the defense, having to defense the wildcat and then back to a conventional offense and back again. and it give henne what is essentially extra timeouts during drives. and he doesnt seem effected by coming out a few plays anyway.

I read the same thing and it is an advantage; however, when he was out 4 consecutive plays I thought that was a bit much.

Without Henne in the game it becomes man on man in the blocking schemes... With Henne in the game he is virtually ignored by the defense ... knowing whats coming so the defense gets the advantage by leaving the QB uncovered... the question now becomes how do you replace Cobbs in the jumbo package? will it be Hilliard, an inexperienced running back, who more than likely, will miss more of his assignments than say adding another O-Lineman like Gardener and moving the #2 TE over the the QB/Cobbs position to keep the blocking advantage as well as the TE pass option for the Running Back!!! the coaching staff will have to decide on whats best ... perhaps this is when we could see more of the PATCAT!!! but i'm not counting on that until next year so he could get a little more seasoning under his belt ... this coaching staff is all about teaching... Hilliard and White are too inexperienced right now to be counted on every play .... i think IMO that another lineman will be added to the mix...

I dont know about anyone else, but his timing and game feel looked pretty good to me all night long Monday night, especially during that game winning drive. The WC has to be accepted as a big part of our playbook, and to be honest, I dont think it effects Henne a bit.

Henne addressed this very question after the game. He said they practice it week after week so it isn’t a big deal for him.

It didn’t seem to have an ill effect on Henne but the way the media is writing stories this week you would think Sanchez won the game.

The announcers had a point Monday night, you would think it would be hard for a QB to sit out a couple plays then be asked to come in and convert a big 3rd down but so far it doesn't seem to phase Henne in the slightest.

He took at least 2-3 timeouts on Monday that were perhaps because of his timing. However, not sure whether that disturbance in rythm is compensated because of additional insight he gets on the sidelines during those timeouts.

But having those Wildcat yards definitely makes his job easier. I believe, if he is as good as he looked on Monday, eventually in 2-3 years he maybe good enough that we will not have Wildcat and still run and dominate with his arm.

We will never give up the wildcat. it averages 7 yards a play. you'd be stupid to give that up.
