So after watching 3 weeks of preseason (I know, I know its just preseason)... Davis might be onto something with his remarks about he and Smith being the best CB tandem in the league

Revis is a beast no doubt but Manning picked on Cromartie all night (the 3 points doesnt show the damage that was done to Cromartie). Cromartie is an athletic freak but he gets beat a lot.

Nnamdi is a beast too but Samuels got beat really bad couple weeks ago. Plus hes real soft and cant play bump and run or tackle much

Sean Smith is soft when it comes to tackling but when it comes to covering short and intermediate throws, hes money. Its the speed guys that go deep on him that has hurt his stock but so far so good and Vontae has amazing ball hawking skills so I'll live with him giving up the short routes cause his deep ball skills as a defender are sweet (he had a nice one against TB against a really good receiver in Mike Williams that was called back)

Packers have a nice duo too but gotta think Woodson is gonna start breaking down.

I guess I would take Miamis tandem over anyone else for the reasons that A)they have not hit their ceiling, not even close. They will continue to get better. B)They balance each other really well and I think Smith is very underrated in the league and even to the hardcore fans on this site (as a cover corner, not as a open field tackler, he sucks at that but hey cornerbacks get paid the big bucks to defend the pass)

Oh no, not this discussion again =).....here comes Junc to defend Revis and Cro.
I like our tandem, but don't think they are the best.....yet.

These guys start pulling down the INTs that hit their hands and then they will actually be respected like an elite tandem. Until then, QBs will keep trying to pick on them because the worst that can happen is an incomplete pass. Elite DBs make QBs PAY for throwing their way, and then don't get tested much after a statement season (e.g. 5-6+ INTs).

Cromartie is not very good. This has been known for 4 of his 5 years in the league.

Ive been SCREAMING cromartie gets picked on all week. Jet fan know it. Eli missed that fly ball TD on Cromartie too. Jets arent in the discussion, Revis doesnt have rollover greatness. Cromartie sucks compared to Sean and Asante. I dont think the dolphins are the best CB tendem yet because asante is one of the top playmaker. But I do think theyll be after this year. Josh Freeman couldnt hit a wideout. Sean seems to really have stepped up.

Only thing about your post is that they dont get picked on. Just to throw this out their, we are the best tendem in the preseason so far. Our Tendem barley allows a reception a game so far. Just sayin thats a great way to start. Vontaes vision startin to come true. Please dont try to put put down another tendem that you think is doing better because I seen all the games and were winning by far. I KNOW ITS PRESEASON!!!!

A wise man once said that two thirds of the Earth's surface is covered by water. The rest is covered by Fred Smoot.

I don't see any other tandem arguing that they cover the entire planet, so it seems pretty clear to me that Smoot and water is by far the best tandem. And don't come back at me with that whole "but Fred Smoot isn't in the NFL anymore" garbage. You'll just sound like the liberal media relying on "facts" like that. Smoot does his work in the NFL, out of the NFL, on a plane, taking a dump, or playing with his kids. And water... look how dangerous it is just lying out there, waiting for the perfect opportunity to rush up and "cover" a perfectly good sandwich I have next to me on the beach.

Don't go telling me Darrelle ****ing Revis can cover a sandwich like that, because he can't.

Disagree with me all you want, you goddamn bolsheviks, but keep in mind you'll be arguing with science.

Before tossing Roddy White into the discussion remember what Julio Jones did to Davis.

Julio Jones tore Vontae a new one, even though Vontae didn't even seem to have the heart or effort that game.

Most people will tear Sean Smith a new one for making that bad play against Blount, and talk bout how Jimmy Wilson is coming for his job (even though hes been beat in coverage quite a few times) but never want to acknowledge the job Smith does in coverage. Guy has had a great preseason and really showed up.

Obviously Vontae was referring to himself and Jimmy Wilson.

Which was nothing. Jones had 1 catch wide open against Davis who let him in the middle of the field after Davis owned him on the 1st drive.

Jones was targeted a lot early on and Davis was all over him. Jones finally got open on a shallow crossing route which yes, Davis let him get away... the other catch (jones had 2 catches in the game) i BELIEVE was against zone D so hard to say whos fault it was.. could be wrong tho.

Davis and Smith have a chance to be the best. They have excellent cover skills and Davis is as physical of a corner as there is in the NFL. But until they start coming down with more balls than they drop they won’t be elite. JMO
