Yep, I almost wrote it last night, but was too tired. Before the Jets-Pats playoff game last year, I spent the whole week combing through numbers and history, looking for some hope. I finally found it, but it took some time, and I learned a ton of interesting stuff along the way. In those few days, I spent a lot of time on pro-football-reference, way more time than I had previously. I've always viewed point differential as more important than W/L in basketball and baseball, and recently started doing the same for football. When I explored PFR, I found their Simple Rating System, which is about as close as it gets to the NFL's version of John Hollinger's NBA rankings right now. Wins and Losses are what matters, but as every fan knows, they don't tell you everything about a team. Point differential is a better predictor of playoff performance and performance for the next year than W/L record. If you can add a modifier for Strength of Schedule, even better.

As for the length...like I said, I like to share and acquire information. I post on here because it makes me closely follow another team and get a vastly different perspective on my own. I'm also on a Pats forum, but you guys are much nicer than they are. The Boston media is (more so than almost any other major city) an echo chamber for the front offices of the various teams and it's reflected in their fans. I usually try to be concise, but when I'm trying to make a point, I try to be as clear as possible, and that can mean some long posts from time to time.

I agree, things happen in the NFL and every team needs some kind of luck to get to the superbowl, whether it be getting that Colts game or just someone killing it in the playoffs. We both have different perspectives on eachothers teams and both teams fans will always say this year you got lucky and that year you got lucky blah blah blah, but to go out and disrespect the entire Franchise and say it was a Fraud? I just think that is a low blow.

I agree mostly w/ what you are saying but the only reason I even brought up 2008 was b/c of the whining from 2009 by your fellow fans. If you are going to whine about the Jets getting breaks you need to acknowledge how Miami got in the year before. That's all, my opinion is that both teams deserved their postseason spots.

Don't ever let anyone tell you that you're not thorough. And sorry if we are the nicer ones to Jets fan...must be hell on the Pats board. =)

Vontae Davis is almost as good as Revis? Vontae Davis has a "high ceiling" than Revis?

Davis better work on becoming a top 20 corner before he says anything else about Revis. It's laughable that some of you were trying to debate this.

Watching the Eagles its pretty clear that at least 1 CB tandem besides NYJ is better than Vontae Davis/Sean Smith.
 
After watching the eagles tonight it is apparent that we are going to get our ***** kicked and pretty bad too...
