I am going to make a controversial statement on Bill Belechick. He is Smoke and Mirrors! The Hell you say? The pat's would be an avereage team if it werent for Tom Brady. Yep that's right. Before Brady came on the field they had Drew Bledsoe and they werent gettin it done! Suddenly Brady comes off the bench Like Dan Marino and suddenly Belechick is a freakin Genius? I'm not buying it. There are only a handfull of quarter backs that can make Belechick look good. The rest of the QB's in the league will get him fired. What is my point? It is this. Sure Bill is a good student of the game and a good coach but every good coach needs one thing to become a great coach.... A good quarter back!!! I say that it wasnt for Tom Brady coming along when did they Bill Belecheck is still just an average coach. Now, come get me.

lol the fist time my dad ever saw brady play in the nfl he said he would be dam good one day and i ow him that one...now on the subject i think he did a great job drafting in thus creating the defense, o-line, and wr corps he got lucky on brady but agreed it would be alot harder for them to win without brady and i really think his job would be on the line!!

I think a lot of his credit should be directed at his past coordinators Wiess and Crennel, but he is a smart coach no doubt.

I realize my flair for the dramatic can get the best of me. And I know the man is a good coach. But dang it, luck and players has a lot to do with it. Look at Don Shula one pick changed the history of this franchise. Every other team passed on Marino. Sure Shula was smart enough to take him but also lucky enough to have him available there.

All coaches can do, is put players in positions to be successful (and throw that freaking red flag at the right time).

Great players make great coaches.

Belichick is as good a coach as there EVER has been in the NFL. If it wasn't Brady, he's have found someone else. Part of being such a great coach is evaluating and developing players. A good QB is critical but it takes 53 guys to win.

Hmmmm bill is a great coach he picked the guy he saw was a hiden gem and it worked out for him.
If saban took a wr in the 6th round and became a joe horn,i bet yll will praise nick ,omg what an eye for talent.
Well that said bill is a great football mind and he saw talent in brady, yll cant take the credit away that easy.

Now for shula having marino, shula was already a proven coach winning 2 superbowls.Everybody skipped on marino, then the other teams let him pass cause the top picks passed him and they figured if they passed on him that high ,why the hell should they take a chance on him.
Now shula didnt skip him cause everybody skipped him, shula was actually smart and not think like the other teams did,so therefore shula gets the credit for not passing on him.

[admin] Wow...we should leave personal evaluations out of our posts. [/admin]

You said that NE was an average team before Brady took over. You are partially right. They were average because Bledsoe kept making the same mistakes he has his entire career. Holds onto the ball too long and makes poor decision at crucial times. Brady is a game manager and makes fewer mistakes than Bledsoe, which makes him a better fit for Belechick's low risk high reward approach to offense. Belechick's biggest assests as a coach is a teacher and motivator. He puts his players in position to make plays and allows them to use their instincts and knowledge to go out and get the job done.

Brady has been instrumental to his 3 SB wins, but so has the Bellichick defense. They're the ones that came together to win the first SB by shutting down an explosive Ram team, and they're the ones that have throttled guys like Peyton Manning in big games.

Good post. Bill is definately old school and he'll take what ever the other team will give the Pats. His game planning is second to no one. He as well as Pioli know what type of player fits their scheme and the team and they aren't big name type players. I think Bills strengths mirror PhinsRock post, Player evaluation and developement, A keen eye for the blue collar type teer 2 players that are more about winning as a team then their own personal stats, His game prep and game planning, his ability to change up in real time and call the right adjustments at the half. He definately has brought a good system into NE and it just seems to chugg along year in and year out.
