Decision On Linehan Expected This Week By Rams

I want Scotty L to stay.

But I'm not as worried about it as I was in the past few days with the news surfacing tonight that Nick Saban would hire Norv Turner if Linehan leaves.

Norv is a good coordinator who did the best he could under bad circumstances.

(Some people posted on here that Drew Rosenhous on "Drew's Views" stated that if Linehan leaves, Nick would hire Norv right away.)

i really doubt Norv comes to Miami for a 2nd time around

He was pretty good in Washington as well so Dallas wasn't his only success. What's good is that Chambers knows the playbook and he'll use Ronnie and Ricky. It won't be the same old Norv of old though...

Was this Drew's opinion, or does he actually have some sources this time? I tend to remember that he said Crowder would miss the rest of the season after the Jets game. However, there he was for the Titans and Pats game.

I'd be lying to you if I told you I knew.

I'm just typing what I heard. However, where there is smoke, there is fire. Nick and Norv are friends (My God, who isn't friends with Saban?) and Saban holds Norv in high regard.

Now, if you are Norv Turner, you know you aren't getting another head coaching job. So why not go to an up and coming team to run the offense with a lot of weapons and a much improved o-line???

i guess im in the minority, but i wont be overly concerned if linehan leaves

i think whoever saban hires is going to have to followa framework. if saban still wants a vertical passing game, then the OC will have to tweak his system and do it

as for turner, i would like it, but gus is too inaccurate for turner's 15-yard out patterns off play-action

 You are so right. Every time somebody is mentioned, they are always "Friends" of Saban. lol. I guess it is good to be friends with a lot of people, look where it has gotten him. :)

As for Norv, I am a little skeptical brining him back. He is known to be a more run-oriented style coordinator. Which is good to a point since we have Ricky and Ronnie, but I liked the deep passing attack Linehan went with this year. Hopefully, Norv(if hired) wouldn't abandon that. If I was Saban, I would look at all my options before hiring Norv. Plus, Norv is a little tainted after being on the Wanny staff. :barf:

Not necessarily. Norv did try to bring Gus here a couple years ago.

Keep your fingers crossed that Rivera or Cameron blows the Rams away during the second interviews.

??? Good riddance to pass happy Linehan. Let's get someone who can run a balanced offense and isn't in love with Gus.

norv is a vertical guy. he just sets it up differently with PA and doesnt telegraph the plays by formation. we would likely be back to the I-formation alot though

Lot more use of the FB again and less use of the three WR sets.

based on dallas and miami, but i dont recall the raiders using the classic I all the time this year though. he may be flexible with that due to personnel
