Deconstructing the value of Ronnie Brown

Great article i really think we should use 1 or 2 of our first 4 picks on offensive line Lt and LG. Cant wait till Ronnie Returns

It tells me Ronnie is the RB we thought (And feared). Great? Yes. Beast? Yes. Durability issues? Yes.

Same old story. Dude has to stay healthy.

Ronnie sure was having a great season before the injury. I remember Belicheck's first words to Cameron after that game was something like "how is Ronnie?"
I'm not getting my hopes up this season for Ronnie, he will be back, but not the same as he was last year....2009 season is when I think Ronnie will be like he was this past season

Ronnie is the man we all know that but if he could just stay healthy he would be all pro. Like one of the other guys stated above he'll probably be back to full health in 2009.

I tried to bring a new perspective to the Ronnie Brown discussion; his effect on his offensive line mates:

Let me know what you all think?

Great article...

This quote makes me see red... Cam, Cam, Cam.. I can't believe cam actually considered starting Chatman over Ronnie! What a joke of a HC.

"Jesse Chatman, who was Brown's primary backup and was touted as possible competition for the starting spot before the season, struggled to pound out yardage both up the middle and on the left side".

I am not doubting Ronnie in anyway, but if this is the case, bring in McFadden.

I'm not a McFadden lover, and we do have pressing issue on D and O-line but I love skill position players. lol.

Sorry what I meant is, if Ronnie looks lost for this season, I'm done with waiting for him to blossom even more. He broke out last year and was hitting holes, and players, like I had never seen before. But his injury puts him in a place where he is gonna be 4th year player, averaging about 800 yards a season and has only 13 tds in all 3 years of his career.

I love Ronnie Brown but if we have to wait another year for him to be himself again, then he is not the answer we are looking for. Healthy, I believe he can be an elite back, but the problem is that I do not have another year to wait. We are a long ways away from "the ship" but I am not ready to throw yet another season away waiting for a running back named Brown or Williams, even though I believe, when healthy, both are a tremendous tandem.

The problem with your stance is that it doesn't take any semblance of reality into account.

Brown is slated to return. Ricky is slated to return. Lorenzo Booker is slated to return. Even Patrick Cobbs is slated to return.

So why would they pay first-pick money to yet another running back?

Furthermore, with all of the glaring holes on this team, the last thing they should do is draft a player for one of the few positions that has plenty of existing depth.

Lastly, with Parcells' track record of avoiding RBs in the early rounds of the draft and finding diamonds in the rough in the later rounds, it's all but assured that the team will not draft McFadden.

Using your imagination is all well and good, but you must temper it with reality.

Granted there are legitimate questions about our runningbacks. But to bring in another, particulary a high draft choice, just doesn't make sense. With as many holes as this team has it would be downright foolish. Brown will be fine by midyear and if the spotlight can be kept off of Ricky he will be fine.

Very good article Hugo. A couple of things that I noticed about Ronnie Brown last year was how often he either made the first defender missed or the number of yards he gained after first contact.
