Ricky gets it. This is why Saban is going to return us to greatness. He's shooting for a dynasty type team. Can't wait till we get there.

''What he's trying to do is very deep teaching, and it's really hard to do when the result is always the main focus,'' running back Ricky Williams said Sunday after a loss to Cleveland and before Saban's comments.

''He's trying to teach us to play with a level of consistency and focus that is going to make us be even better once we all understand and buy into it. It's really hard to get to that point, because everyone is so concerned with winning right now,'' Williams said.

Incidentally, doesn't it really seem like...a given...that Ricky Williams is going to continue being a football player for a while now? Saban should be given a medal for that feat alone, regardless of our record this season.

At least Ricky sees the big picture. This team is destined for greatness if you ask me:)

Yup, and for many other personnel moves including the draft where he finds guys and keeps the ones that buy in.....I look forward to the rest of the season and the off season.

He will jettison many of the names on the roster and replace them with those that can buy in and get it.

That's why we aren't going to trade Ricky!

I don't see it happening anymore, early inthe season yes. But if Ricky said that then wow, he's actually gotten it. Now hopefully him and the rest of the team can apply it.
But then again Ricky's always been on some spirtual higher teaching bull**** if you ask me...

What Saban is teaching isn't deep or mystical; it's the same thing that the great coaches have taught and emphasized: execute now, don't concern yourself with the results, but instead focus on executing perfectly now.

It's an extension of the Buddhist teaching of "perfect practice." It means that if you do each little thing perfectly in your daily practice, you will develop habits of perfection and your results will be perfect.

I think you are right. Saban didn't bring Ricky back to trade him, but to give the team the best possible players. I like having R&R in the backfield. Though I want Ronnie to get the majority of the carries, I also want Ricky to stay.

Not only does this save Ronnie's career, but also Ricky's because otherwise he'd have been possibly done by now with the 380 carry pace he was always on.

Yea, cause we'll part way with Ricky or he'll retire long before Ronnie's gone. Ronnie one day will be only good back we have (Unless we get a great FB) but when that day comes Ronnie won't be limpin down the feild on every play.

oddly, ricky has been the spokesman for the team

You know I have noticed this. I've seen interviews with him after a number of games win or lose. Even games he hardly had an impact on.

The two things in boldface go hand and hand with one another. Saban's stuff IS deep and mystical.

Me either, and I was a "hater". My concern was with the potential disruptive effect, which never materialized. I think they'll keep him around.
