Defending the Wildcat

interesting article. brings up some good points, however as everyone knows last years wildcat was relatively limited in the things it could do, this year a lot of new wrinkles will be introduced as well as some 'spread' offense plays.

Very nice article....It seems coaches are thinking that DT pressure ( i.e. Haloti Ngata and the Ravens ) is the way to stifle the Wildcat. This brings up a couple questions in my mind:

Will Jake Grove really be an upgrade over Samson S.? ( I definitely think so....Which makes the Wildcat even more dangerous)

Who does Atlanta have on their DL that can provide constant pressure when they see C.P. line up wide? ( I have no idea actually).

John Abraham 16 1/2 sacks last year...Jake has his job cut out for him.

John Abraham is a beast.

This is an insightful article about the wildcat. It should be, it interviews people who get paid to coordinate defense.

I remember last season watching ESPN and they had some complete blowhard on there saying the key to stopping the wildcat was to use a cover 2 defense. I'm not kidding. He recommended using a cover 2 to stop a power running formation. And that's all it was. Just use the cover 2.

Now, ESPN is usually pretty clueless about football but this was really, REALLY bad.
