Defense got worn down...BS!!

It was the scrub Wyrick we signed acouple days ago's side who was passed on.

The ONLY reason this game was EVEN CLOSE was our defense. We should have been blown out.
Exactly. Our touchdown was a damn fluke.

interesting point...I would venture to say that both defenses were extremely tired...they both got a REAL BIG workout on Sunday...

Maybe the defense choked, but their contribution to our loss was minimal. They only gave up 9 points...that's pretty good, especially considering who was out...let's not divert attention away from the REAL problem...
Not too many seem to have a problem with diverting attention away from the real problem so, why shouldn't I take a stab at it?
:D

Our defense has allowed one touchdown in two games.

If you're looking for a scapegoat for 0-2, look elsewhere. With the injuries we've sustained and the complete non-support from the offense, the defense has done everything it can do.

That's what I'm saying! yet, so many want to give the defense a free pass because they played well for 59 minutes.
With the negative state this team is now in... Every element of this team (i.e., Defensive, Offensive, and Special teams), will be scruntinized to the tenth degree.. When you are losing everyone on the team should blame themeselves... We must hope that every player on this team hold themselves accountable for our losses. Once that occurs then maybe we can turn this thing around... We win as a team and we die as a team...

Amen! You give up 9 points and you should win! Don't forget The fumble on the punt that set up bad field position!

I think our defense is top 5, but the two main gripes I have is 1) choking in crunch time and 2) poor tackling. They didn't miss too many tackles last night, Madison couldn't have played then right?

On the surface, blaming the D for this loss would seem ridiculous. However, as the original thread suggests, this defense never seems to finish the dominance, and finishing it is the hallmark of A GREAT DEFENSE. They can't finish it out, and that takes away from their magnificent play for the prior 58 minutes. Also, that side of the ball is where the money is, and they should be held to a higher standard. This isn't the first time the D has had a lapse in an important moment. As to why this keeps occuring, I'm not sure. But I would venture it has to do with the mental makeup of the team.

well that 3rd down we blitzed too many people, i agree on bringing pressure but when you KNOW you got someone playing corner that shouldn't be on one of the leagues best WR, you help the guy out, you dont bring all ya LBs on the blitz and play back 20 yards when its 3rd and 8 on a CRITICAL Drive... not to mention that retarded time out on 2nd and 6 with like 1:45 to go.... grrrrr this coaching

I am really hesitiant to blame the D for anyhtin considering how bad the offense has been. But, if you have been following along at home there is an uncomfortable pattern that has played out with this D. They are great statistically, and look good most of the time. But, when we need a stop or a big play they don't deliver.

I hate to say it, I want to argue against it even as I write it. But, that's the Dolphin defense for years.

DING DING DING DING!!! It's going to be a rude awakening if this offense comes together and "all of a sudden" the defense is exposed.

I saw something that kinda got me thinking about the mental make-up and specifically the leadership of the defense.

Before the game, there was Zach sitting on the bench, chomping ice, and glaring around the stadium........all by himself and silent.

I wonder if you'd ever see Ray Lewis like that?

jimmy f'ing WHY Rick!!!

practice squad garbage coverin chad johnson, 3rd down n whatever, 4th quarter, whats the thinkin there?

if you look at the play, another WR ran an out pattern, now i couldnt really tell if the WR that went underneath was past the 1st down marker, but antuan edwards n wyrick both went after him n left chad open, freeman was the deep help (n was a step behind either way)

I'm with you an I almost hated to start the thread about it but, it's true.
From the very beginning, there has always been a scapegoat but, the core remained the same and no matter what parts get plugged in around them, the results never change.

What could it possibly be?

I'm sure all the fans blaming the D are Feeley supporters. Protecting their precious future.

Some fans don't have a clue.

The Defense plays well for 59 minutes so the game is on them? I guess that int for a td is Zach's fault. When this offense comes together our D will be exposed? How about this our Offense has scored 23 points in 2 games, while we've had 2 ints returned for TD'S so we'll bust that number down to 9 points in 2 games our offense has accounted for. I really hope our D get's exposed because it might be the best in the league but we're not gonna get any benefits because our offense is pathetic. Randy McMike was the only one getting in anyone's face, this offense is lacking leadership. Aj Feeley being described as "a deer in headlights" is great. The funny part was I was more confident in our defense possibly scoring a TD then our offense. Really looking back at the game, Feeley's 1st int when Miami was in FG range was probably the defense's fault also.
