With all the insanity of that game, the pathethic coaching, the dropped passes, the bad calls, it again comes down to defense.

We are up by 10 twice in the second half, and the defense cannot stop the Saints.

Same as the Indi game.

Sorry, but it all comes down to Defense.

It all comes down to a secondary that has fudge for safeties. WTF with pat white. what a wasted pick. I think a Safety at that pick would be a bit more useful.

Ginn needs to give a call to lester "molester" hayes.

Hopefully someone who has looked at this game more closely than I have can answer this question.

In the first half Miami's defense was attacking from all angles, guys were lining up in different places on the field, at times only 2 guys had their hands on the ground ... it was innovative for once, and effective. For one half, the defense resembled some of those great Ravens defenses that impose their will on the other team.

Why did they quit attacking like that in the second half? Did New Orleans breaking off a few runs take that away? Did New Orleans change protection? Was Miami trying to do the same thing as in the first half but they just weren't winning their one-one-one battles in the second half? Did Miami's coaches for some unknown reason decide to go conservative and play vanilla defense?

As an aside, I hate inferring something like I'm about to do but it just seemed like they came out with so much energy in the first half they spent all of their emotion and were flat the second half. I realize they are pros and I am not on the sideline or in the locker room to make such a statement but I am just passing on what was conveyed through the TV set.

The defense (4 turnovers) didn't cost us the game, our receivers did.

we kept up the pressure in the 2nd half, they just just starting running the ball more. Of course, we didn't adjust to that.

The other thing that started happening in the second half is 3 and outs on offense. No defense is going to be effective if the offense gives them no rest. The quick Hartline TD actually concerned me, because the defense again was getting no rest. Turned out I was right, because NO marched straight down the field. I put this one mainly on the offense (although G. Wilson comes in for special scorn on defense).
