Let me state up front that I did not see the game. AND I am not saying that Gus was not an issue in this from what I can tell, because it looks like he was ( I did see the int).

But, how did we let vick rack up so many passing yards??? I know they did not get huge points off of us, but giving up 4 drives of over 70 yards...we came away lucky.

Did our secondary play horribly? If so, why am i not hearing anything about them in the post game discussions?

our 3rd down defense is horrible, we can't get anyone off the field. For all of those who said that Vick is an over rated qb maybe you'll reconsider your foolish statement. One thing is fact, when Vick is in he wins. He played a good game, put the ball where it needed to be.

I wasn't intending to say that vick sucks...he is dangerous to play against because he can completely change the game. It's just that it is not normally through the air.

I have NO problem with how our defense played yesterday........we made Vick beat us passing, and he did.

Ask any D-Coordinator in the league and they'll tell you that is how you have to defend Vick. We dictated that he would have to throw to beat us.....just sucks for us that today he was able to do that.

Our DB's did get beat often, but that's because they were put on an island all day. We likely would not have done that so much against any other team in the league, but Mike Vick dictates that you have to stop him running and Dunn running to have a good chance at winning......we committed so many to doing that, that becasue Vick was accurate........we were in trouble.

Any day that Vick is going to be that accurate passing, the Falcons will slice up ANY D in the league.

It's hard to keep the most dangerous QB in the league from getting his yards, whether it be through the air or rushing. For the most part, we kept Vick in check throughout this game...but when you offense comes in and goes 123 punt, leaving the defense to play that many minutes....I am surprised the game wasn't a blow out.

Vick was as accurate as you can get. Defenders around the recievers, our D line getting hits on Vick and the ball still placed exactly where it had to be for the completion. That's whay you are not hearing anything about the defense. They played about as well as you can. Vick was just on fire. Our defense did well against the run when Dunn carried the ball. But we couldn't stop Vick when he had the ball. Especially on thrid down. He threw for 11 first downs and ran for at least another 2 or 3...

Our problem on defense is we blitz way too many people and dont cover recievers. that is what happend yesterday with a guy who can run around and playaction to his tight end who does not drop footballs.

What I meant is that everyone else all week made those accusation, not you.....

Someone correct me if im wrong, but IMO the defense played horrible. We didn't force a punt until the fourth quarter from what I can remember. We wouldn't have made them punt the entire game if they would have had to move the ball. It wasn't until late in the game when they became a little predictible trying to run out the clock that we finally stoped them.

Lost in all of this is that Sam Madison played yet another good game despite not having any quality DBs playing around him. Did everyone see the play where he was covering two receivers and still made the play to break the pass up !?! That was vintage Madison.

I agree that was a good play however I don't think he played a good game. Did you see how easily he is blocked on the perimeter he doensn't fight through anything to make a play in the run game.

Vick was incredibly accurate and his receivers caught everything. The coverage was pretty good. Rarely did you see anybody running free. IMO this wasn't a case of bad defense (except for the penalties) but rather good offense.

Which, in the case of the Falcons, is also bad luck for Miami. What you said is true - coverage was pretty good. There were no deep completions. Vick was pressured often, hit often, and sacked three times. (He was babied a bit by the refs, with a very cheap roughing call). Vick was actually very accurate, and receivers didn't drop balls. For the most part, the defense kept Atlanta in check. They scored 17 points in 37 minutes, which is probably second only to Philadelphia where they scored 14 points in 34 minutes. The defense did very well overall.

The 1-2-3 punt doesn't help at all. Last game, the Saints were way off balance - and the defense dominating - because the offense (sorry, the running game) was clicking. Time of possession is enormous.

Vick WAS very accurate yesterday, so for anyone thinking he couldn't hit the broad side of a barn, watch the game and you'll see he can.

We've turned into Atlanta in a sense. The game plan against Miami should be to make Gus beat you in the air. Shut down Ricky and Ronnie, and make Gus throw the ball. If Gus can turn out a performance like Vick did yesterday, no team in the league would beat us.
