Brady has never won one without at least a top 5 defense.

the 2001 Patriots were 24th in yards allowed but i believe 8th in points allowed.

You believe wrong. I just checked..they were 6th. Brady has played with a defense ranked worse than 8th only 3 times in his career... if you count this season.

No, but a bad defense gave up 2 TD's in 2 minutes. Allow a Hail mary. And gave up 45 points.

No, the 49ers gave up 2 TDs in 2 minutes as well. Top defenses cancel out in the playoffs and it then comes down to who can score the most against the
top defenses. It's really simple, top defense and top offense is needed to win. Balance.
