Did the defense play some type of dime or nickel crap for a lot of the first half? It seemed like they rushed 3 and dropped 8 a lot and that seems to be where we got torched a lot. We had no pressure on Leftwich and could not penetrate to stop the inside runs. Maybe Tony wanted to try something new...it didn't work.

They did a little of that against Carolina as well.

They sent 5 early against Carolina, then late in the 1st and in the 2nd quarter they played the nonsense you described.

And Delhomme had all day to throw, just like Leftwich did very early in the game last night when they didn't send anyone from the 3-4.

Look at Pittsburgh and Baltimore's 3-4 defenses when they get pressure. It's when they send 5 or more people. Not 3 or 4.

But this is pre season, and the Dolphins were just experimenting with things. That's what the pre season is for.

When the Dolphins started doing what they did early in the Carolina game, in the 2nd quarter last night, they were getting through the starting Tampa's O-line like a hot knife through butter.. McCown and Freeman were getting hit and abused so much, they couldn't wait to get out of the game.. Did you see their eyes ? They were terrified.

if you watch the film, Porter missed a few big tackles, and right tackle pulled out when Cadillac ran thu.. That QB was throwing the ball too hard, no one had much time to react.. that type of throw wont live in the NFL. It was a Good Game to Have for a preseason game..

Porter has always been dreadful against the run, so that is nothing new.

We play Tampa in the regular season, so why show them anything. Our defense was very plain. It's preseason, I don't mind at all.

I figured this was the case and we still held them to 6 points, even with the turnovers. I just like it better when Miami crushes the opposing offense and that just did not happen against their first team. I suppose that I need to temper my expectations for the preseason and not look for perfection and domination but progress. With that being said, unless we have a 30 point lead or are facing a Hail Mary situation, I don't like rushing just 3...it sucks! Reminds me of Ollivadati (spelling?) and the "prevent", yeah prevent us from winning!
