I know a lot of people have been calling for PP to be fired and to be honest after the saints game i was one of them. but now that i look back on it I started thinking.Look what this guy has to work with. 2 rookie corners, 2 strong safties pretty much wilson just flat out sucks. a bunch of slow linebackers who can't cover, and a good d-line but missing a big peice at NT. Now by no means am i saying he is the best d-coordinator or anything like that but just think about this. i do think he needs to bring more exotic blitzes but maybe he feels we cant with our terrible coverage secondary. all a coach can do is put his players in the best postion to succeed and maybe the players aren't getting the job done.

he needs to get fired at the end of the season. Enough of the excuses, the fins have never been this bad in the stats for total defense before.

stats stats stats. when was the last time that the phins had 2 rookie corners, a terrible fs, and a slow linebacker core like this. these aren't 3-4 players they are 4-3 playing in a 3-4. and this bad defense has been exposed by peyton manning, drew brees, phillip rivers and tom brady. im not saying theres not someone better out there because i dont know but dont say its all his fault.

While he does have to deal with 2 rookies and what not, my biggest concern has been his lack of imagination in blitz's. I posted about it a few games ago. For a good portion of the season he flat refused to move linebackers around or send in safety support, how it took us till week 5(believe it was week 5 anyways) to start calling up some safety blitz's is beyond me.
I look at teams such as Denver who have their leading playmakers (Dumervil, D.J. Williams) matched up against other teams weakest links(a handful of the sacks ive seen are against the guards while Denvers Ends sweep out and neutralize the tackle). I could very well be mistaken, but everytime i check it seems were having Wake/Porter/Taylor just run into the tackle and hope they beat them play after play...mix it up a bit. Were lucky that Randy Starks is having as dominate of a year as he's had, hes taken over portions of games.

That being said, it was nice to see Coach P relent a bit and send in Turbor to cause trouble against the Jags, they seemed surprised to see him rush and it lead to 2 big plays(sack and pass deflection while Garrard got detonated against).

like i said i do wish he brought more exotic blitzes but a lot of time i see linebackers blitz like porter and taylor and they just get owned at the line and cant get off blocks

If there struggling at where their attacking, its up to the coaching staff to put them in the best position to make a play. Thats part of a coaches job, using your personal(even aging/slowing down/playing banged up) as best you can...and Coach P hasn't been doing that.
Some of the time, the right scheme can cover up lack of talent.

yes you do have too but liek i also said theres only so much you can do, the player have to make plays. i mean porter and taylor when they blitz are 1 on 1 with an o lineman. couple years ago they would have destroyed that and he would look like a genius but now they are getting killed and the qbs have time and even thought we have a awsome safety in gibril wilson not even he can cover for that long.

OK, what defenses haven't been exposed by Manning, Brees, Rivers and Brady????

With a couple breaks going to our opposing teams we have our record, take those breaks away and we are leading the division. We also had a shot at beating each one of those QB's teams so I don't get your point. If we were blown out then I could understand but in most cases we had a chance to win and did against NE once.

sorry for the confusion. i was saying these are the best qb's in the league and thats why they have exposed the defense liek this. like you said they expose almost every defense they face. thats what i was saying because the guy i was replying to was talking about stats and you cant compare a team who has to face those qb's to a team that has faced average qb's.

i would like to see vd in on a few corner blitz packages... the guy can flat move and is physical enough to get it done... could be our version of polomolu ;)

Wouldn't mind seeing that. and lets not take this tooo far haha hes good but that mans a freak

We are 3rd in NFL with 38 sacks. I know sacks are not the whole story but QB pressure seems to be a big concern with PP when in reality... Well... we're 3rd!

Trust me, he is not a good coach. He cannot coach up anyone and the only thing that will make him successul is if he has a bunch of pro bowlers on his defense to hide his inadequacies... I know first hand from watching him coach SU for twenty years.. And dont let his winning record at SU fool you anyone...

We have more talent on D than the Jets, yet there ranked in the top 5, it's the co-ordinator that sucks.
