Tyrod Taylor: 32 for 41, 458 yards, 4 TDs, 0 INTs, average QBR of 141.6

Ryan Fitzpatrick: 38 for 66, 495 yards, 5 TDs, 1 INT, average QBR of 97.7

Tom Brady: 26 for 38, 356 yards 4 TDs 0 INTs, 133.2 QBR (1 game)

In 5 division games the defense has allowed 96 completions in 145 attempts (66%), 13 TDs, 1 INT, and an average QBR of 124.1. It's bad enough that guys like Taylor and Fitzpatrick play like all stars against Miami, with Brady it's at least something you'd expect.

Eli Manning's performance last night shows just how abysmal this team is. Another lost season and one in which many positions need to be filled in the offseason with a brand new coaching staff.

Indon't know if Miami will be good in the next 10+ years.

It's not the defense. It's ok that our amazing defense give up 450 yards and 4 TDs a game. It's all Tannehill's fault.

Ozzy rules

Could Dan Marino put up enough offense against crap like this?

this defense(offense) was unlocked long ago by the AFC East. I just don't understand why is so difficult to find someone that can at least match wits with these guys, let alone outsmart them

This defense has sucked since. JasonTaylor retired.
It has been spiraling down since then. Rock bottom now.
Playing off the receivers 10 yards at the LOS is why they are racking up the stats. The players give up passes short muddle and deep. This is the worst defense since Chuck Studley.

This staff is so weak that any competitant college DC could do a better job.

And just as depressing is the offensive performance in these 5 games. 72 points scored in 5 divisional games. We are averaging 14 points a game against our division rivals. When you don't score on offense eventually the defense gives up at the end of games.

While the OP can hang his hat on the defense being the main reason, I cannot. You just don't give yourself a chance to win, and you cannot have a good defense when you consistently only have 2 good drives per game on offense. Just leaves your defense having to do too much IMO.

Maybe we can get this all straightened out next year.

Oh, I think the offense was pretty poor against the division as well...that is fair to say. But our defense has been atrocious.

Lets not forget that this team was 3-3 against the division last year, so in my mind, it is a combination of the Bills and Jets getting better and we got worse.

I think it's clear that defense wins championships in this league. It's pathetic that we face brady each year for what seems like a decade and we still have a bs secondary and lbing core. One would think a strong lb as well as superior cbs and safeties would be on top of the list come free agency and draft time. I mean like since ZT left...unbelievable, at least we invested in our offensive line right? PATHETIC

And I suppose it's the defense's fault that the offense can't score points. Tannehill has zero responsibility there, right?

Both sides of the ball suck vs the AFC East and yes especially the defense. What I find funny is when Coyle was here the players were bitching that the defense was too complicated then following the Monday night game Young and Dilfer were saying our defense is so simple it's like facing a preseason defense. WTF!! I know we lack overall talent and Coyle was far from the answer but I think we need players who can handle some complexity in an NFL defense without crying about it. I think we have lots of issues with player attitude and ability that need to be addressed this offseason. Do we have the biggest bunch of DUMB crybabies in the league? Sure seems like it.

Think I'll tell my boss my job is too complicated maybe he can dumb it down to nothing for me.

Anytime you need to "simply" a defense, it means you have dumb players and need new ones. It's the NFL, it should be complex. This isn't Pop Warner. These guys are supposed to be elite.

The Dolphins' downfall was Ross (and the fans, and the media) thinking this team was on the brink of greatness last year and that Philbin was going to get us over the precipice. Instead the team fell off the cliff.
